Doubt it looking at some of comments still on here, the Stendal lovers are still believers it would seem despite him taking them all for a ride, drinks at the garrison anybody Daniel man of the people, Freeman of Barnsley will be there to rejoice with his people, oh hang on just heard he can't make it he's a secret meeting for a job just cropped up
Did I hear somewhere about some going up to Hearts as they are now their second team, just wondering is there any spare come available?
It's only similar to hecky applying for the sunderland and forest jobs before getting the leeds on he had his reasons why he wanted out I'm sure stendel did doesnt take a genius to work them out.
It's not as simplistic as take on loads of debt and become the next Bolton financially, or spend nothing and eventually join Bolton in league 2. I know what red rain says, and respect his rather protracted views, but there can be something inbetween boom or bust. I go to watch BFC for purely footballing reasons, everything else is secondary. If the entertainment is way down their list of priorities, they are skating very arrogantly on thin ice.
How many points does this story put on the board again? Regardless of your opinion of the story, they still do not accept they made any recruitment mistakes and seem to suggest that the only thing that’s needed for safety is GS. As they do think that, and confirm it within the article, they have learned nothing and you are being fooled into absolving the board for the cause (selling our best players and not replacing) because they identified a symptom (manager wanting to leave due to a board uninterested in creating a championship level squad). Tell me I’m wrong.
Lee Johnson was applying for other jobs whilst at Barnsley. Lots of players agents are touting them around as high as their stock will allow. Let's not pretend this is a shocking one off.
Yippee what a guy, did he mention anything about the Huddersfield job while he was there? No surprising that
I'm not I'm poking fun at all those he's took for a ride by portraying himself as a hero. A bit of honest on his part, especially given his antics that night at the garrison wouldn't have gone a miss No class or honesty it seems
But Conway said we'd just had the best transfer window in our history. Hardly a reliable source of the whole story, just his own version of it. Besides, Stendel didn't ask for hero worship. Just did a great job in getting us promoted with 90odd points, and then had his best players sold from under his nose. I'll always remember Stendel fondly for last season. I'm sure Mowatt and Woodrows agents will be fielding enquiries about their availability. I don't blame any of them for looking to get away.
I'm guessing that he saw the guts of a successfully promoted team leave, to be replaced by lads who were nowhere near the standard of said team yet expected to perform a Division higher? I'd have touted myself to a team who matched my ambition too - that ambition being to compete / fight / challenge, not merely to balance my employers spreadsheet. I'm sorry but I swallow not a word of the statement; it was spoken by somebody more aligned with this Thursdays imminent events than those of the running of my club. I'm not going to be turned as easily as some have been. I'm still out. Do not trust him one iota.
Were you there? He basically was just saying his goodbyes and I for one am still glad I went and still wish him well. I'm just gutted that this season has gone the way it has after the high of last season.
I'd agree with you fully so this goes back to the promises he was made when he joined us. Were our owners completely open and honest with him about the job and the support he would get. I'm pretty sure he would have been given objectives and achievement targets so did they mislead him about player sales, recruitment and retention.
It's a good question. Gerhard Struber has already begun to allude to the E word from time to time. I wonder what, if anything, he has been promised in terms of the squad? Roll on 1st February.
Me too. I am also certain that he was totally dissatisfied with player sales and the plan in the championship so was he mislead during his recruitment. I'm still don't feel as though we have been given the full facts.
And to be honest that’s where the issue lies, some people (well within their rights) just want to watch football, the Owners priority is to balance the books first and if the football is acceptable it’s a bonus. The two just don’t go together and can’t meet in the middle either as that would have to result in either lesser attractive football and/or the club in debt. Neither party for me is wrong because a fan should be about the football, an Owner should be about the club.
