Subject change. Just started watching Life On Mars and can't believe I haven't made time for this sooner. Only two episodes in, but really enjoying it. As someone who left school at 16 in 1978, it really does capture the era. At times I dont know whether to laugh or cringe at some of the un-PC comments. For anyone interested, both series one and two, plus the follow up show Ashes To Ashes, are available through iPlayer for the next 8 months or so.
I was late to this party too. Fantastic series, John Simm and Philip Glenister are superb. Just onto series two of Ashes to Ashes which isn't quite as good as it took me a little while to warm to Keeley Hawes in the lead role. Still a great watch though.
Re-watching at the minute. Ashes to ashes is more of a grower but worth sticking with it for the mystery to he revealed
I can only speak for myself, but both periods are ok. I'm in a good place right now, retired early, no mortgage, recently became a grandad. But the 70s were a blast, probably because I was too busy having a good time to notice the bad bits. I'd love to do a Sam Tyler and pop back for a visit. 1978 would be ace. Great music, top mates, and following the Reds home and away. What more could you ask for?
I've seen it a few times now and also the follow up series Ashes to Ashes. Absolutely brilliant series both of them.
