I agree. It made me think he probably has approached another club, however as someone else has said on here you have to look at what prompted that and not in isolation.
he then blamed the jocks accent.....which is understandable ;-) if he did try to move on whilst with us, so what, we all look for a new job if pi$$ed off with current maybe he went about wrong but he probably knew his days were numbered here
Heckingbottom - gets a team promoted that should have got promoted. Ultimately struggles in Championship after players are sold. Jumps ship. Branded a judas and the next best thing to Beelzebub. Stendel - does exactly the same and is virtually treated like a saint. The only difference appears to be necking pints wi't lads darn at t'Garrison. Bizarre.
Don`t forget, Hecky signed a new contract and then a few weeks later he left, and went to Leeds of all clubs. That`s why it`s different
if stendel had planned to join wendys there would be an uproar, i do think it was huddersfield though i don't think i dislike any of our ex managers who left after getting us promotion, pissed off when wilson sold redders to charlton the left himself, though that wasn't probably his call
I wasn't saying you did Helen. I wasn't pointing a finger at either manager. I just find the lack of objectivity mistifying at times.
Daniel's achievements are superior though in my mind, given he was new to the country, English football and the records he broke. Plus personally for me it was my most enjoyable season since out Premiership promotion season, and some a lot of that was down to Daniel the person as well as the manager
Stendel resigns after 1 day because stern cannot translate Scottish into English for stendel .. Stendel signs for a Welsh club next
Disagree Redhelen... Heckys achievement was far superior Hecky Promotion to Championship (1st season) - despite taking over a side rock bottom of L1, and written off by most. Playoff Win at Wembley JPT Trophy (Wembly Win No.2) Championship - In 1st season, his team were 7th at Christmas. Very good away record. Indifferent home record. Played attacking, organised and high tempo football. Team spirit could only take us so far, before quality of championship took over. Daniel Stendal Promotion to Championship (1st season) - Almost bottled it but thankfully Sunderland and Pompey did that instead. Should have been out of sight! Unbeaten at home in L1! Poor away record. Played attractive, passing (possession) football, great to watch but at higher level we were out played and bullied by bigger physical sides. No plan B. Record number of games without a win! Hecky's results dipped, clearly friction was growing between himself and the board. Fans were starting to turn on him. He jumped before he was pushed. Yes, it was dirty Leeds but he must have been laughing his c0ck off! offered a job by promotion chasing Leeds when under fire at bottom end of Championship... No brainer as they say! Stendal was sacked for record run of poor results. Yes record number of games without a win! and no sign of one either. No playing well. No belief! And now it comes out that he was in talks with another Championship team. Wednesday and Hudderfield both linked with him. If he had gone to Owls or Huddersfield, their would be no knees up in the Garrison. In 5-10 years, we we will still be talking about double Wembley win and Hecky's promotion year. Will we even talk about Stendal's promotion..? Bored now.... lets move on STRUBER's Red and White Army!
I think you've identified two extremes there. The problem is that people with extreme views tend to be more vocal. Just my personal opinion, but I'd say that most people were unhappy to see Hecky and Stendel leave, but could see that they'd both been expected to work miracles so understand why they left. Most of us are grateful for their promotion seasons and wish them both well wherever they go in the future. Even if it's Leeds.
This is only my present position and with shifting sands I could be way out. However, the more I think about it, the more things are beginning to slot into place. Last season was fantastic, with great football, a likeable manager and promotion. That means that when Stendel departed I looked to blame the owners in most of the same ways others on here do. Now I am coming round to the conclusion that as likeable as Stendel was and genuine in his desire to be in it for the fans and the community, he actually put his own self interest above all of that. He was in a job where he knew exactly what the recruitment policy was and it hasn’t changed. He knew that his stock was at its highest at the end of last season and was looking for more money and maybe better players. He was offered contracts but turned them down because all along he knew he could get more elsewhere. Hence discussions with Huddersfield and public disagreements with the owners and maybe other “antics” . This all lead to his sacking/ relieving of duties. As to the rights and wrongs of compensation etc. then none of us know and perhaps even our owners and the Hearts board will only be certain once legal arguments have been concluded. I don’t have any bad feelings towards Stendel and wish him all the best. Don’t think either him or our owners come out of these shenanigans looking blameless.
i'd echo bright reds comment end of the day it's their job and livelihood , owner, chief executive or football coach if either feels threatened they react if mr stendel decided that been the lowest down the ladder he's explored more options to remain in work then so be it some people seem to think that all in football should be loyal to the club & fans simple truth is that most can say the right things at the right time, but like any working person, if a better job appears you're going to look at it, even if underhand i genuinely feel he loves the barnsley people but like any job, the **** rolls downhill
Cant agree with much of that. We were in the JPT final when hecky took over he only had to play one game. He had a great team assembled by wilson and johnson. Once they clicked into gear we were a great side with hourhaine winnall hammill Roberts and mawson. Once PC sold all the players by the following January results severely dropped off and we were rubbish. Hecky couldnt get a tune out of the banjo at all. He left for leeds before he got the boot and we subsequently went down. Stendals season was a bolt out the blue. 4 nil 1st game of season and never looked back. Yes the 2 Wembley wins were great but stendals entire promotion season was brilliant. People who went to rochdale and peterbro away will have had just as much fun as the Wembley games. Both men now have tarnished reputations for leaving the way they did but again man of the people stendal was loved where as hecky is the devil cos he went to leeds.
The fact remains that Murray also mentioned lack of experience and Struber is alluding to it.im sure the board never said to him when he took the job that the average age of the squad would be ever decreasing. I think people underestimate how hard it is to do what he did not speaking the language, not knowing English football. We got automatic promotion with Stendel too.
