Reading were very poor and we really do need to beat teams like that when the opportunities are so frequent. Going forward I thought we were decent though our passing deteriorated as the game wore on, which is particularly frightening as we just look poor whenever anyone in the opposition goes forward. The bottom line for me is I really couldn’t fault this group of players for effort, energy, commitment or how much they want to do well for the Club and succeed personally and as a collective. But, we just lack quality and exp....know how, throughout the whole squad. Every game feels like deja vu. I’m surprised they keep picking themselves up after each disappointment, but they are in desperate need of some decent championship defenders. If we got that, i’d still be hopeful. Alas, the ones who could make that happen seem to be in denial and accept no responsibility for the worst start to a season in 131 years. I’ve only heard things this week that confirm that view. I don’t despair of the players but I do the owners.
They are sick of the same mistakes time and time again. Some of the tactics was absolute basic errors. Like the time towards the end when we had a set piece and instead of having Sibbick go up for it as one of our taller players, we kept him back as our sole man even though he's one of our slowest players.
People keep saying we need to be winning these games. Seasons done. All these winnable should be winning games we have bottled every one of them
Or the free kick (last kick of the game) and instead of whipping it in to the box, we tippy tapped it back to Reading. I thought we looked OK until they scored, then i expected them to score again (which they should have done, he rose like a salmon and had a head like a star fish, fortunately)
