    Been an avid reader of this brilliant forum on a daily basis but after witnessing yet another god awful defensive error against a terrible team tonight who were utter dog ***** and there for the taking I thought I’d throw in my two penneth.

    After the promotion of last season and all the good will at the club, closer bonds rekindled with fans and its team, the bumper season ticket sales, a lick of paint inside the stadium and even my season tickets coming in an old kfc box and Mr Conway talking us up with all of his Uuuuuuuu s of aaaaaaaa razzmatazz and our leader heir stendel, our adopted charismatic German frumptarn talisman who got us, he connected with us and acted like one of the boys, he, who bought into the heart, soul and feeling of what it means to be a true red. I thought eff me we might have just cracked it here we have billionaire owners and they are saying all the right things and we have all the ingredients of something really special here moving forward and mr cryne can look down on us knowing that he’s left us in good hands and back in the championship so the future is very bright. Like a few other hundred reds fans I even went to Germany to watch them in the friendlies and drinking rocket German fuel I was that giddy.

    Me and many others thought right, we just need to add four or five older experienced heads maybe in the twilight of their careers to what we have already and clear out some dead wood and we will be fine. Finish bottom 8 then consolidate, then year on year we build and gradually get up the league. I’m sure we’d all be happy with that, small steps each season and ambition / fight is all we ask for.

    So........as Mr Conway loves to begin every sentence with, stroll on a few weeks and the 11,000 or so season ticket sales and merchandise sold have greased the fingers of the clubs bank balance and tills, however instead of listening to stendel and the supporters the board think it’s ok to rip out the spine of the team and cash in on as much money as they can, sell our Crown Jewels and replace them with what ?.....utter dross

    Moneyball my arse, this is the championship and you are mixing with the misters now. This league screams for several older heads experience being essential in every team.

    Look at Charlie Adam tonight, his body shape was ten pints and 40 woodbine and yet he’s spraying the ball about and ‘old manning’ like he’s on fifa on the Xbox. In the meantime twinkle toes bahre is scared to put his laces through the ball and shoot. Sibbbick comes on manages to get booked before touching the ball and he couldn’t mark a crossword he’s absolutely useless. He wonders around the pitch like a jack russel chasing a Tesco carrier bag in a storm, hasn’t got a clue where he is never mind the winger he needs to be watching.

    Our whole defence is that awful
    I’d rather play with 7 men and drop them all, at least that way we may not give away our free gift goals every week. Reading gift us an open goal and after that numb nuts in our net is still rolling it out to defenders to play tippy tappy football in our own box under severe pressure instead of launching it into the sky and landing it deep in their half and playing in the last third of the pitch AKA ——- AWAY FROM OUR OWN F***ING NET EINSTEIN. Their corner for their goal was a mis kick penny roller and took 33 bounces and a gust of wind behind it just to get to our front post and our 4 defenders around their one attacker said to one another “ eh come on lads we’ve been playing 70 minutes tonight and not done our customary weekly you’ve been framed chuckle brothers it’s a knockout gifting goals to the opposition routine so here you are pal from Reading tell you what, have that f***er on us !!” We will miss three opportunities to clear it and somehow we will allow you to slap it in with your talkywhacker from 3 yards out. Thanks for coming mr reading centre forward, see you later glad you liked that charity gift and don’t worry or you even have to thank us as we give those away every week.”

    This board have replaced the good players that we cashed in on and replaced them players with the vast majority in fact nearly all of them are just plain and obviously so far out of their depth it’s absolutely embarrassing. Who is our scouting network that has identified these players ? I hope our scout can watch me in the back garden in my puma kings I can do fifty kick ups with my left foot and catch the ball behind my neck. I’ll probably get a 4 year deal at Jokewell and play at the side of diaby next week. Christ almighty how does a club manage to sign the amount of players we have and just about all of them are absolute garbage for this league, nowhere near the standard at all. The likes of Schmidt sibbick Williams Andersen Diaby etc etc etc I can go on and on naming others I think would struggle at even league one level and yet some of these half bakes and no marks we have signed are on long term contracts so us poor sods have got to put up with that dross for years to come unless we pay them off.

    If Mr Conway and his friends running our beloved club are so called clever business people then I take my hat of to them because financially they have banked millions and when January comes the fire sale will start. Mowatt and Woodrow let’s say £5 to £6 million for the pair so that will plug the £6 million relegation losses. The board and their greed / inexperience / lack of understanding or listening to what stendel and supporters was screaming out from the beginning in the way of some experience signings have absolutely ruined and destroyed everything that was built from last season by lining their pockets and instead the investing in absolute lower league standard dog ***** in the hope of finding a Lamborghini in a pile of Ford cortinas so they can do what ????? Yep, you’ve guessed it folks......... sell them on for a huge profit.

    This moneyball system of a scattergun approach signing non league / lower league inexperienced dross in the hope of finding a nugget and also selling any established good players we already have will only ever see our wonderful club go one way and that is to cascade like a dead weight down through the leagues, long term this plan will not work as no manger can keep re inventing a rebuilding a whole new team every season.

    You can’t blame the players personally that we have brought in they are doing their best poor sods but it’s embarrassing the number of mistakes we make every bloody week. Frankly they are out of their depths, yes they try and may have heart but 46 games means pub level dross will return a pub level dross points tally and this is plain to see already.

    This side when it gets relegated will do nothing in league one as they aren’t good enough I’d say mid table at best. There will be more atmosphere on the planet mars than in our cavernous stadium of empty seats. 6,000 season tickets and back to the dog ***** pub league one isn’t something I ever thought about in my worst nightmares when we were getting promoted from league one on the crest of a feel good wave.

    Us fans we’re here before these locusts and we will be here long after they have gone, unfortunately the lack of ambition this board have shown and utter contempt for its loyal fans has and will set the club back years. I am disgusted in them. They have used us and our club simply as a cash cow to bank profits.

    January and their actions in the transfer window will demonstrate to us even further what their ambitions are and if they are listening to its supporters because so far they haven’t.

    It’s not the terrible players fault that we are on the brink of relegation by December, the fault for how this club is being run on and off the field and the league position in the table is solely at the boards door, not the poor players...... it’s them and nobody else.

    I’m absolutely gutted that our wonderful club and it’s fabulous honest supporters is being taken for a ride for profit margins and spreadsheets.

    Please Mr Conway & Co prove me and my fellow reds wrong in January.

    Rant over folks

    God bless and good night

    Summary for those who need it:
    - the players aren't good enough;
    - it's the board's fault;
    - the future looks bleak;
    - changes needed in January.

    Really enjoyed that. Well done for taking the time to write it.
    Sadly everything you say is true and it is hard to argue with any of it.

    I think anyone who wants the board to spend money in january if we're cut adrift wants their heads testing.

    I understand and agree with post from WAT, but does anybody remember the uproar when good players were being sold for what many regarded as peanuts because they were on short contracts? I posted then that we were in a difficult position, all the players could turn out to be brill and we wouldn't get good money when they were sold, or turn out to be less so and on long contracts,,, and were stuck with them.

    Ha ha. That’s where the main player scapegoater has been. Welcome back. Can’t be arsed responding to most of that dross but will just say Charlie bloody Adam! Thank god we aren’t stooping to 34 year old last cash-in players.

    I'm happy that they're on long contracts because I think what we'll be left with after Woodrow and Mowatt depart is good enough for league 1.

    You’ve been saving that up , just for clarification again , the players that went in the summer wanted to go , they didn’t want to play for the club anymore , they wouldn’t sign contracts offered , why people go on about the Board ripping the spine out of the team I’ve no idea . One of those players , Moore , has been honest about their departure , he rethought his priorities after his head injury and admitted he went chasing the money to secure his future . As for the rest of the post I can understand people feeling let down , the recruitment hasn’t worked immediately, it might not work at all but you should reserve some of that angst for Stendel , as soon as he pulled on an England shirt in the Garrison you should have known that here’s a bloke who holds no allegiances to anything , happy to take the plaudits but looks to bail out when going gets tough , well rid of him , not up to the fight

    They already had contracts, they didn't need new ones. They were Barnsley players.

    My main point in all this is not just that they were allowed to break their contracts and leave, but that they weren't adequately replaced. People still back the board in all this, despite the hard evidence. As fans, players and managers say "the league table doesn't lie".

    They weren’t breaking their contracts it was in the clubs interest to sell them once they said they were off for nowt in 12 months time . The only one of those players you could confidently say would have made a difference was Pinnock and he made it clear he wanted to leave
