so Liverpool play all their youngsters against Aston Villa Just like watching Barnsley Defence or non defence all over shop and young goalie a nightmare Just shows that all youngsters does not work
I didn’t watch the match but I agree with your sentiments. Some of them will become good players, maybe not for Liverpool. You can’t do things quickly in football
I get where you’re coming from. But I thought they performed admirably under the circumstances. For those lads that’s a dream come true and a massive opportunity, some shone through too. That young lad with the terrible hair cut is going to be some player, along with the lad who played at right back. They’ve probably learnt more in that 90 minutes today than they will from any game for the remainder of their careers. Linking it back to Barnsley, hopefully the biggest learning curve for some of our lads was the Preston away defeat. Some would argue for and against that point too.
Do the world of good for them who played yesterday. Those of them that think they were close to first team football will now see the gulf in class between the levels and it should drive them on to work harder to get there.
I thought it highlighted that the 14 point gap to Man City is down to Man City's inconsistency. Man City could have gone to the World Club Championship and still fielded a strong reserve side to beat Aston Villa. Touch wood that Liverpool have a safe journey home. They've taken a massive gamble taking all their first team abroad with what I saw last night they haven't got much in reserve.
I agree as a one off game, but what would it do to their mind set if they were getting turned over regularly?
Not sure about that, Liverpool could have split the squad and left a much stronger "reserve" team. They took the decision to take the whole squad with them. I get the feeling they are happier out it, Klopp almost seemed annoyed when they beat Arsenal on pens in the last round. Liverpool have won 16 out of 17 games, I would suggest some of Man Citys inconsistent form is down the pressure Liverpool have put then under.
What happened to the ruling about having a certain number from the previous week’s match day squad in this squad
You'll never win anything with kids........... said someone long ago........ or was it Paul Conway ??
Without googling it can someone name the last ten winners of the club world cup? I think Liverpool have done their fans a massive disservice not fielding a stronger side. I'd hazard a guess they'd rather Wembley than Doha.
Don’t even think it’s particularly about the competition anymore. Liverpool asked the FA to move some games around so they didn’t have to play two games in three days while having a long plane journey inbetween and they said no. Think it was more out of principle that Klopp took his entire first team squad with him and left the youngsters to play the game they wanted moving.
My previous employer had a rule that only a certain number of execs could be on the same flight (IIRC 5 but I could be wrong), but as Chapecoense found out (and Man U before them) putting everyone on the same plane can occasionally be a problem.
The timings all wrong for this but, add this up,, Sheffield Wednesday, ruthless owner, massive financial difficulties, problems with football league, not looking good for promotion, life insurance, warm weather training, boeing max 8???
That wasn’t the reserves it’s the 3rd team or under 21’s. The back ups are all at the club World Cup with the first choice 11. Adrian, Gomez, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri & Origi are all back ups so not too shabby
