This is something that has been levelled at the Blair governments which I now find my self looking back to with misty eyed longing.

Someone has helpfully pointed out the one or two slight differences in this excellent thread

Acheivements of the only Labour Governments to win elections in over 45 years

Food for thought for those following the Momentum philiosophy?

Though I also think Blair was always much more electable to floating voters than Corbyn (or even E Milliband)

They should just listen to the whole electorate, tell them what they want to hear, then when they get into power , just forget it all and do what they want.......it works for the Tories ;)

Blair flew to Australia to get Murdoch onside. without the backing of the media it doesn't matter about policies, last week proved that policies do not win elections anymore.

Keir Starmer looks to be leading the running for leader and already the right wing press are smearing him....just search what's trending on Twitter.

TBH, I'm beyond caring. The pillocks that can't see that they are being hoodwinked deserve all they get from this far right Tory mob. It won't be till the real disaster of Brexit kicks in they may realise they voted these crooks in.

I think you'll find most people are like your good self and have the sense to make their own mind up. Personally I buy a paper about once a year, usually the Mirror, not on Twitter or Kitebook so the only media influence I have is TV. I listen to what everyone has to say and make my mind up accordingly. On TV Corbyn, Abbott, Johnson, Reece Mogg, Swinson have easily been caught out by interviewers whereas, whether you like them or not, McDonnell and Gove dont appear to get so flustered.

That's a brilliant post, but the tweet to remember is the one that says You've GOT to be in power to do anything. You've simply got to get elected somehow!!

i applaud your ability to think, i wish more people did! thats on both sides by the way and doesn't just affect the right. but, and its a big but.... one guys reads something, who tells his mate, who tells his mum and all of a sudden someone else is guilty of x y and z. you only have to look at how the media have operated over the past few years, without reading a paper you know enough of whats being said in them.

You don't have to read a paper to be influenced by one. If 'bloke A' reads that Corbyn is a terrorist 100 time in The S*n, and tells his mate 'bloke B', bloke B then believes it too and posts on the BBS to tell 'blokes C,D and E' etc etc. Now I'm not saying that you're Bloke B,C,D or E, but I think it's clear to see that a lot of the population are.

I blame Theresa May. Had she not lost her majority in 2017 then Labour wouldn't have lost at this election.

I have said on here many times before the election that Labour would lose - Corbyn and Mcdonnel are politicians from a bygone era - peddling socialism for all it is worth - trouble is Labour need to win middle England to win the next election and unless they become more mainstream they have absolutely no chance - Blair did it and won - couldn't stand the man myself but was an eloquent speaker and could spin the story to make people believe it, which Corbyn could not do - I see a big battle developing within the Labour party going forward - between momentum and the hard left and the centre ground Blair type politicians which could end up splitting the party -

Couldn't they have said we'll do everything the Conservatives have offered and more but just do it better? Their stance on Brexit lost them the election. Only the ardent remainers wanted a second referendum to remain through the back door. They wouldn't acknowledge that were they elected a second referendum with a neutral leader wasn't democratic and geared towards remaining no matter how they dressed it up.

No they still wont own it - it will be someone elses fault - the EU for punishing us the remainers for not believing enough to begin with, or the foreigners - thats always a good fall back target. It wont be those that voted the tories in thats for sure

I saw someone posting (on Twitter) yesterday that the UK was doing to do fantastically well by undercutting the EU and making a mint. Still waiting for him to explain how that is going to happen without country-wide paycuts...

Simple - the pound crashes - no need for paycuts and no one is worse off unless they want to travel abroad or buy foreign goods - or something like that
