I had confidence they would develop BUT we shot ourselves in the foot a bit regarding the defence, one or two more experienced players and we may never have been in the bottom 3.
accepted helen.....to some extent. however my issue has been with the majority on here who were too quick to write off this group of players. there are a few of us who found it all a bit much. the constant criticism was unjustified and certainly not encouraging. having reconciled myself to the fact that the negative views on here weren't representative of the vast majority of fans who attend games (ie the 10000 and not the 800 on here) its great to see that the new management team and players are now getting some well deserved praise for their performances. it says a lot about their perseverance and it sure has been a proper character bulder for them. we've a lot to look fwd to with this group, whether we stay up or go down.
In the space of a month we've gone from being 7pts behind 4th bottom, to being in the drop zone on goal difference. Onwards and upwards with this manager and team of grafters I reckon.
The next 2 league games are critical for me. If we can get maximum points against Derby and Huddersfield we have a great chance of staying up and this would definitely put pressure on the teams around us.
Its not good for it to be 3 from 4 admittedly. BUT, look at our options at the start of this month eh, we didnt seem to have any at all and we were clutching at straws. There should be some teams who will drop like a stone, and I hope Hudds will be one of them!!.
I must admit after the Stoke defeat I was convinced we were down. Now we have a chance. At least one other team will go on a bad run and drop down to the bottom I think Stoke will stay up. If we can avoid shooting ourselves in the foot in January I think we can too Currently I think Wigan and Luton are likely to go down with one other team. It could be us but I’d love it to be Derby or Birmingham
Despite what they did to us in the game at Oakwell, I still think Luton are one of the favourites to go down this season. Wigan arent much better, and yes ok Stoke have the clout to buy their way to safety, but it remains to be seen whether they will. Will Mike O'Neill even stay with them for the season eh, if things continue to go against him/them ?. And speaking of teams falling in the 2nd half of the season, I still also think Charlton might struggle.
Once we get out of the bottom three we need to push on and not relax, though that`s easier said than done, plus we should know that we will have another spell of poor results before the end of the season.
We are in a purple patch form wise at the moment and can’t reasonably expect that to continue. However I do believe we are better than at least four or five teams down there with us and I am beginning to gain confidence that we will get the results to back that up. I’d still like an experienced centre back who is a good communicator and organiser, and, despite improving hugely to his great credit, I’m still not convinced Jordan Williams is ready, so I’d like a right back too.
