Someone said on here that Derby will be paying Rooney £80k per week. Surely this breaching FFP if its true.
The commentator said last night that Derby are no longer 'throwing the money around', and are looking to develop players. Surely they'd not forgotten about Rooney, given that they spoke about him during every second of the build up.
Sounds about right for Mel Morris. They've probably got Coleen down as a cleaner on £50k per week, as Stoke did with Tom Ince's mother.
It seems like they're paying Rooney but not the rest of the squad.It's about time the EFL made one of the "bigger"clubs pay for there misdemeanor's instead of teams like Bury for example.

Oh well thank the lord for that. Which one is going to let Rooney, Curtis Davies, Scott Malone, Craig Forsyth, Ben Hamer, Matt Clarke, Waghorn, Chris Martin and Roos. That is 9 of their squad either over the age of 26 or only on loan so not actually their players.
Im sorry ...can someone explain how this works. If they get 30,000 fans per week and we get 10,000 then they have to generate 3 x the income (either via paying fans or commercial interest) to generate sustainability....is that right....or am i missing something!??
So the best model for sustainability would be to have no fans at all? I think we're both missing something...
yep this is what i saw: English second-tier soccer side Derby County have been offered a record-breaking sponsorship deal from their shirt sponsor 32Red, with the betting company now set to pay new signing Wayne Rooney’s reported UK£90,000 (US$109,000) weekly wage.
So 32Red are going to cough up approx £4.8m per year? I have no idea when it comes to football finances, but I'm struggling with that one. Are they expecting Sky to cover Rooney County games for the rest of the season?
I guess they can increase their sponsorship by £5 million a year which would increase Derby's turnover Not sure how it works if they make it conditional on the money being used to pay Rooneys wages though - that looks quite close to 3rd party involvement which is not allowed I mean a betting company paying a players wages - no scope for abuse there at all
My understanding was by selling the ground back they wiped their debt out from previous years, meaning they are basically gambling on getting promoted within 3 years.
So a bookies is paying a players wages can nobody at the EFL,FA,UEFA,FIFA see the massive conflict of interest in that scenario because if they can't they shouldn't be governing bodies of the world's biggest sport.
