I sometimes have a look at this site to see how Little Lee is doing. They’re a fairly delusional bunch however this thread is quite amusing https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/205060-johnsonisms/
I hated him whilst he was here. I often wonder what would have happened if he'd stayed with us. Would he have ballsed things up like he did the season before?
I particularly like this example of self delusion.... "I went to Real Madrid to watch sessions in the academy, to Barcelona to watch their B team, to New York City [FC]. I had two hours with Pep Guardiola over the two games, which was great. It wasn’t just me picking his brains, it was 60-40 and he was actually genuinely interested in my ideas. "
Imho, i think his sum was greater than his parts. He talked a very good game and to extent was good with coaching, ideas and 1 to 1 with players. Unfortunately his ideas did not work in league one (the set up.... the formation etc) and it took the arrival of hammil and a reluctant change in formation,to get the best out of the players we had and eventually become successful. He is better suited to a higher division with better players, i often wonder what he would be like with real money.
Quite funny. Some Brentesque quotes in there. A couple of my faves: ‘Bristol City have a good manager’ - talking about the club and himself in the third person. ”I’m the 8th best manager In Europe under 40 (according to 442)”
I liked him too. Especially after going wrong way for a piss after Bradford walk. I was in changing room toilet while Ben was laid out in absolute agony. Remember me telling you Liam? All you kept asking was where are the pictures!
Love the comparison with David Brent. Gervais was a genius with that character I really enjoyed The Office. Personally I didn't mind LJ as manager and didn't really understand the stick he got for leaving us. Tee’d us up for promotion all Hecky had to do was mind the shop
I met him & liked him but found him to be a pretty dreadful Barnsley manager. I couldn’t understand how week after week he kept making the same mistakes tactically & wouldn’t learn. Really slow build up, no width, never stretched sides but yet when we’d lose the ball our players somehow managed to be constantly out of position & we’d get picked off on the counter. If ever there was a game that summed up his reign it was the Shrewsbury home game when we’d had most of the ball but not created anything of note with it & then Jordan Clark netted an injury time winner for them on the counter. He seemed to want to dominate the ball in midfield in the mould of a Pep Guardiola side but completely ignored that you need players making runs & stretching the opposition to take advantage of your midfield having the ball. I’m not saying he’s a bad manager now as he’s obviously improved otherwise he wouldn’t have Bristol challenging for the play offs & having good cup runs but I didn’t rate him at Barnsley.
He lost to Altrincham. He's fvcking useless, and is utterly stealing a living in Bristol - the only biggish English city to have had less football success than Stoke.
