So.. the wheels got set in motion. They had a referendum, which declined independence by 55%... But the whole country voted for the SNP whose sole purpose is to get Scottish Independence? I mean.. my head
Fook um !!! Sick of hearing about Scottish politics. Especially when you realise there are as many people living in Yorkshire than there is in Scotland. I think us English need to vote whether to stay united and vote NO. Then build a new fook off Hadrians Wall with border crossings. Let’s just see how many young professionals remain in Scotland.
Two things - "the whole country voted for the SNP" - No, that's not how first past the post elections work - just enough people in each electorate voted to elect an SNP MP and not all Scottish MPs are SNP. "They had a referendum, which declined independence by 55%" - Yes, but this was before Brexit - Scotland voted to stay in the EU as a whole, if England pulls them out of the EU then the situation has changed, therefore they should be allowed another vote to see if they still want to be in the Union. Otherwise we are forcing them to stay with us and that isn't very democratic.
Well Nudger you really have excelled yourself with your very articulate reasoning here. You make remaining a very unlikeable option. With friends like you who would ever need an enemy? Perhaps the young professionals will see Scotland as a very open and welcoming place to live and work and it might be England which will be short of the professionals you talk of. Still good luck when we leave.
What about middle aged professionals can I come - I dont want to be left in a country fitting to Nudger, Farage and Rees Moggs ideals
Scotland simply doesn't have the economy to break away from the UK. We are moving away from what would be considered their biggest asset of a fossil fuel, although they are not owned by Scottish companies anyway. I'm convinced they would vote to stay in the union anyway.
Don't be fooled by the SNP's domination in terms of seats. 54% of Scots voted for pro-Union parties. Which suggests little or no movement since the referendum. And if they can't force a majority for separation now arguably they never will. Whilst I am against independence I would be happy for another referendum. Another defeat for the SNP would bring an end to all the division. Might necessitate a rebranding of the SNP as a party though...
