Obviously good players who one or two people have / had an inexplicable dislike of.

Seriously. Hassel probably the most versatile player ever to wear the red shirt and perform more than admirably in any position required. Anywhere in the back four and midfield. ( Once playing in goal for the majority of the game at Rochdale in which he was far more than average) Why did you feel the need to mention Nicky Eaden as a comparison. Nicky performed at the highest level and proved a lot wrong. But your comment appears to be a beef about the 2. I Would never underestimate Bobby Hassel. A class player also. Had the opportunity to move on to higher profile clubs. But had the same mentality as Matt le Tissier. A one club man. Something very rare.

    Never liked Andy Liddell.

    Or Mike Sheron.

It was Sheron for me in that side. Backed out of every challenge he was faced with.

A few don’t like Brown probably because not everything he tries comes off. Guy behind me every time Brown loses the ball or puts in a cross that gets cut out is moaning about how poor he is and wants him off. Conveniently ignoring all the things he does well. Like most assists for us this season

There's some right fraggles on here this season who've wrote off the players, team, management, club, owners, the whole lot. Because we weren't winning. Who tried justifying their moaning by coming up with all kinds of excuses. They didn't like not winning. Simple as. As I told them at the time.

I wonder if all those who said they aren't coming anymore, actually stopped. Because it looked rammed today.

    Fickle.

I'm assuming Lee Crooks was of the generation where the Premier League players were already making easily enough to set them for life, but the second tier wasn't quite, unless they managed their income very well. Reckon he'll have been on around £3-£4 a week maybe. Pretty sweet of course, but after tax it's around £1.2 million over 10 years. Enough to have a nice house paid off in full and a decent lump sum in the bank if you've not been daft, but probably not enough to retire on. And if you've read "The Secret Footballer", you'll know that not being daft with money is far from a pre-requisite for most footballers!

I actually never saw him play! Probably for the best from what everyone says about his "performances".

I never rated Paul Hayes. He did ok-ish at League 1 level but never really shone. Marc Richards was a slightly better all round centre forward and scored more. But, of the 2, Hayes always got more admiration.

McPhail slow , incredibly one footed.

Only rated as he was on the coat tails of the O'Leary/Priddy Leeds team.

Havent really been big on many of the goalies we have had.
A few would have been better with the old backpass laws as none could kick off the deck from a backpass. Watson, Steele and Miller in particular as they all played a lot of games and were terrible.

On a similar ish theme I never rated Mark Stallard

Then later in life I have been fortunate to play with quite a few footballers inc ones that have played in the premier league and bloody hell Mark Stallard is absolutely outstanding. Maybe the others weren’t trying as hard!

That's just a list of crap players who almost everyone would struggle to defend. Only one I could have a go at putting forward an argument in favour of is Tony Bullock. Although it would be a weak argument where the best I could manage is he was alright.

Players who others found merit in but I didn't.
Robin Vat of Lard - 11th October 1998 - we're two nowt down at home to Port Vale. We have the talent in the side to be murdering them but we're gash. Lard von Lardson is waddling about doing nothing when Vale fans start singing his name. He waves to them and has a big smile on his face. He clearly couldn't give a flying fc*k that we're losing. I despised him from that point forward and couldn't see any merit in him at all.

Mike Sheron - I still use the term Sheroned it over the bar when someone manages to miss the target when it seems easier to score. Apparently it wasn't Sheron who was crap, it was everyone else who wasn't on his amazing wave length. So goes the argument. The counter to that is he was just **** with the heart of a pea. I prefer the latter.

Stephen McFail. Spent an entire career living off a reputation gained as a youth player. He was OK in League 1, but no more. We've had dozens of much better players who aren't given nearly the same credit. If we'd signed him from a small League one side he'd barely be remembered. Hourihane was the real version of what McPhail is claimed to be and was light years ahead of him.
