My favourite part of the game was when Chaplin celebrated in front of the Ponty and pointed to Brown, bigging him up. And I thought, YES, we've got a proper partnership. Chaplin is scoring all the goals but he recognises what a huge role Brown is playing in supplying them for him. And they walked back to the half way line together and it was great. Brown was fantastic today. As was Halme. Both full backs are looking better and better. We've got a huge problem with our centre halves but we know that. Hopefully Brown will continue to supply the opportunities for Chaplin's fantastic finishing and we outscore the opposition often enough to amass enough points to survive.
If brown adds goals to his game then he will be the next big thing to leave oakwell..... The potential is certainly there.
Thought it was a good finish from Chalpin - had a bit to do but finished it really well. Made up for him.- finding his feet at this level!
I wasn't very pleased when we signed Chaplin. More evidence of our lack of ambition, bringing in someone who's only decent but not fantastic in League One. Bloody rubbish. Sack everyone involved. Oh.
I'll fully admit that I had some very serious doubts about Chaplin, based purely on his past record. I'm delighted to say that I was very, very wrong.
I couldn't understand his career trajectory. He seemed to be spending most of his time on the bench yet progressively signing for teams further up the league pyramid. I joked that I fully expected him to spend the season on our bench and sign for a Premier League team in the summer. Now, having seen how deadly he is in the box, I'm wondering why Portsmouth and Coventry didn't utilise him better.
I loved that too, did it right under my nose and looked so pleased. Once strikers start striking they're hard to stop and I really think I'm expecting him to score every match. He seems a really nice guy, the sort that wI'll always be positive about every club he's at. He's key this season in a way I wasn't necessarily expecting when he was signed.
I have to hold my hands up. I slagged off Thomas loads, thought he had the heart of a garden pea. He’s definitely proved me wrong over the last couple of months. Especially under Struber, he’s been excellent. So yeah I was massively wrong on that one, now I’m disappointed if he’s not in the starting 11.
I've a good mate who's a Cov season ticket holder. He was delighted when we 'overpaid' for Chaplin. He thought he was lightweight and profligate in front of goal.
Brilliant character ain’t he. He’s greatful to have his challenge again in a higher league after been in and out of a Pompey team at a young age. He probably wouldn’t reach his potential if he was still there
A lot of Coventry fans were saying that he was clearly not used correctly in their team. I have a feeling he was being pushed out wide, but I'm not sure. It's completely bizarre, as on the occasions I saw them last season, they looked to be playing some lovely attacking football at times, and a pacey striker would have fitted in well. Quality strikers are like gold dust at any level. They're probably the last member of the team you'd play out of position, bar your keeper.
By all accounts he's a genuinely really nice lad. He's always been immensely popular with his team mates wherever he's played.
