I’d be amazed if it’s not Thomas that drops out given that Struber was playing Bahre ahead of him for a spell. Who do you think misses out?
Thomas is s good player, has done enough to earn his start but I do feel he has more of an impact when brought on for the last 20-30 mins. I reckon he will be dropped to bench as Struber will want his player playing in his system.
As other posters have suggested, I think it will be Thomas who will be dropped. Like others in the team he is very left footed, and playing on the right side of the diamond does not work for him. A right footed player could've skinned Huddersfield's left sided defender on a number of occasions (as Brown did). when the opportunity fell to Thomas he couldn't take it. I think he'll go with Halme at the base, Ritzmaier on the left, Brown will drop back to the right, and Mowatt will be at the top of the diamond. Cauley and Conor will be our front two.
I don't think anyone is saying Thomas is poor. They're just saying that he's probably not as well suited to playing in the position that he is as some others may be - and could work well as an impact sub or in a rotation.
Correct Fonzie. Thomas would be much happier and effective in a left sided position. In my opinion the right side of the diamond does not bring the best out of him. And for what it's worth, I'm not a fan of cricket.
Thought id bump this thread with todays team selection. I hope mowatt is just rested and not dropped.
Then it's a stupid decision. The manager moved him out of position then wondered why he wasn't as good
