Did we have football prior to the premier league? Some (most) reports in media outlets report on stats and records but it's always referenced as "in premier league history".
Its annoying isnt it its like the old 1st Division wasnt very important Still its a good wind up for Fowls fans as they might be able to point to a good pre-history but since history actually started they havent done anything
Oh aye the likes of Dixie Dean, Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton and George Best are mere amateurs compared to the great Robbie Fowler, Van Nistelrooy and Ali Dia
It's unbelievably disrespectful to footballers pre 1992 in the way over 100 years for Pre-Premier League history is slowly being erased. Aguero is one of the finest strikers there's ever been in British Football, as was Shearer. But the media and the PL are so wrapped up in each other and the gravy train that I just find it disrespectful to the likes of Jimmy Greaves, with 357 top flight league goals, that they aren't even mentioned. Protecting the PL brand I guess, but absolutely no class.
The national game...demeaned by Sky with every slavering, hyperbolic morsel of verbal diarrhoea that dribbles from their dimwit 24 hour news bimbos.
It’s ridiculous. It’s like when you constantly hear that Liverpool have never won the premier league as if that means anything, it was only a name change. They’ve won the league 18 times. The champions league became that rather than the European Cup in the 90’s yet we don’t pretend our teams victories in that competition in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s don’t exist like many do with league titles before 92. It’s a weird one.
Aye and Jimmy Greaves' goals scored with a ball that would get heavier as it got wetter, on pitches that resembled ploughed fields (Derby's Baseball Ground and Citeh's Maine Road being classic examples). And despite pitches not conduicive to the ball being kept on the ground you got a Forest side refusing to hit it high and long because, as Cloughie insisted, if God had meant the ball to be pumped in to the sky he would have put grass on the clouds.
its not just football. sky have a lovely habit of talking post 1997 when they are doing Rugby League. Don't get me wrong however the coverage is great, but rugby was played prior to 97!
Sh He was very pragmatic our Keef I’ll give him that. My mate Daz the Bolton fan is hopeful that they’ll stay up. Not so sure myself.
its as if Sky do not understand the universe and what was there before the BIG Bang... Also the what came first the chicken or the egg.... in thier case its the premier league.
