It was a very poor performance with lots of individually poor performances within it. And worrying to see unfold. I don't think Portsmouth are much to write home about but for spells they looked the side a division above. It was a continuation of Tuesday night in many ways. Big seven days in front of us.
I went hoping we'd win but thinking we'd probably lose and knowing a performance like the one we put in was certainly on the cards. I don't want a refund. I'm fully aware, like all football fans, that my team can be rubbish and I pay for my ticket with the understanding that the performance and the result may be terrible. Anyway, this wasn't, as many are claiming, a one off. There have been numerous diabolic performances this season. We're no further forward than where we were at when we played Carlisle. There's been no improvement, but we were no worse yesterday than that night, or Tuesday night, or at Derby, Preston, etc etc. We can't reimburse the supporters for half the games this season.
Some of the hyperbole on this board is quite something It’s a young inexperienced side that has had days when they played well and days when they haven’t. The last 2 games are 2 when we have been poor. And I wasn’t surprised. At either. Disappointed but not surprised. There will be more performances like that this season. And there will be more when we play well. Unfortunately unless the new Centre half can make a big change at the back I fear we will still concede too many goals to save ourselves this season And as for the comments about the fans travelling all that way. I do the reverse journey every home game. As I live only half an hour from Portsmouth not a lot of sympathy from me
