There are some items that are considered outright deadly weapons, a flick knife for example. However this doesn’t list all knives or blades items. You therefore then have to look at what the item had been intended for. The deadly weapon charge was dropped as Rodwans’ intention and previous use was with his handyman work, specifically gardening. Therefore it’s just something he grabbed. You can start questioning why he went straight too it but the legal argument has been lost.
The person who made the comments that the police officer should be investigated is a solicitor unconnected to the case commenting on twitter, and not the defence barrister. But don't let that get in the way of the outrage.
