Last year was a joyous year, full of optimism and just really looking forward to the next game. We were progressive and positive. And botany. And now? Dire and miserable and dreading the next game. ******** to the Championship let’s go back to where we are happy and contented.

I prefer the idea of competing in the championship. As much as I enjoyed our season in League One I really don't want to go back there.

Just a thought...why should we just be happy and contented in L1? By that logic we'd be deliriously happy in L2 and orgasmically ecstatic in non-league. Not for me. Aspire to the Champions League, aim for the stars etc...

L1 is ok when we’re chasing promotion. I genuinely think that we may well struggle at that level next season. Take the inevitable sales of Woodrow, Mowatt and Chaplin and there’s not a lot left.

Spot on. We’ve had 2 1/2 good seasons in 50 years in that a Division. Normally it’s a shocking league to play in, and get out off,

Apart from 1 day our stupidity decisions in the back room will back fire and lead us down and down and deservingly so.

    No, leave it as is.
I like the idea of doing some flower arranging when we win.

I somehow see your point... Many on here are quick to point out that Barnsley FC have spent the bulk of their history in the second tier.... well that all changed when the premier league was born, not just for us but many other sides too. The Prem saw the massive influx of over seas players , which meant that the players that were top in the old L1 were moved down a rung to the championship... and the old L2 moved down and so on and so on.... which means that technically , if you think about it, our level is now the present L1. Many on here just will not get it... but also many on here were not around before the birth of the cancer that is SKY and the premier league.

It wouldn't have taken too much investment to sit comfortably in this league because it's pretty average. Now the board are panicking but hence we'll still go down. At least next year in L1 we'll have 35 players to choose from !!

It was a joyous year because of the coaching skills of a certain Daniel Stendel. There is no guarantee that Struber or anyone else can be as effective at that level. Staying up remains our best hope of guaranteeing any form of an enjoyable season next time around !

I'll support us whatever level we're at. But I prefer us being in the Championship. I would look forward to next season if we stay up. If we are relegated, I won't look forward to next season until about a day before it kicks off. I yearn for us to progress, however slowly as a club. The recruitment wasn't ideal last summer and that horrifying start to the season sees us again looking likely to drop.

For ‘wasn’t ideal read ‘stupid and misguided’

What's the point of having billionaire owners only for us to languish as a third rate club?

It wasn't ideal. Ideal would have seen us add some more experienced, Championship-ready players to supplement the talented kids that we exclusively added. I don't wish to call it stupid, but you may.
