Disappointing performance but at the end of the day I much prefer 3 points at Charlton. Perhaps the result at Portsmouth just might bring about a positive reaction after a week to train with the new signings meaning they start to blend better. Of course it might make no difference but we have to try to stay positive and hope the team get back to winning ways. What with Bristol, Preston and now Portsmouth things need to happen!
You're quite right, sometimes this does galvanise a team, hopefully the new guys will bed in, we're running out of games and really it will take a monumental change in results to keep us up, but there's always hope!
If only it was only the cup when we play like yesterday regularly in league games. It won't be only the cup tomorrow night when Pompey get a good cup draw.
What I see is that, to get owt out of a game we must be at our best. And even then we sometimes lose it late on.. If we a take our foot of the gas, we look absolute toss and get hammered. It's going to be a big ask for these players to pull themselves clear.. Not written em off yet... But big ask .
I wouldn't be surprised to see Mowatt and Woodrow leave this week. This moving Mowatt out to the right and dropping him to the bench and playing Woodrow at the tip of the diamond is to unsettle them both and make them want to leave to make the board some more brass. Ritzmaier is Mowatt's replacement and Schmidt is Woodrow's.
I would be especially surprised if we lost either this week. I thought Schmidt was Moores replacement and Ritzmaier was Mcgeehans?
Well if this is the case, and our subsequent relegation which looks apparent anyhow, I feel sorry for the regular hardened supporters financing the owners folly I really do. This club is being slowly ruined from a footballing perspective.
Only dropped for a cup match against lower league opposition when he'd played 11 previous games since start of december. Even Struber said after the match he was rested because he'd played so many games previous to this one. Schmidt might not be a target man but then again if he isnt the replacement for Moore then he wasn't replaced at all which is another talking point.
This ‘it matters little because it was the cup’ attitude is a bit disrespectful to those that travelled isn’t it? I was ill and had all last week off work, I travelled down to Pompey because I’d bought a ticket and also didn’t want to lumber my mate with the full cost of going on his own. I really could have done with making the 4 hour drive, and if owt, I felt worse for making the effort. It might not matter to others, but when I travel so far I don’t take rolling over so lightly ‘because it’s just a cup game’, especially bearing in mind We haven’t fared much better in all but 1 away league game all season.
I'm looking at it like this, as I'm trying to be positive. I can also fully understand the 700 or so that made the journey down there being p1ssed off at the performance. We need to look forward now, Charlton is a must win game.
Disappointed with the way we lost. As far as the Cup is concerned, we have always carried the tag " Battling Barnsley". On Saturday we meekly capitulated to a bang average League One outfit, plus we missed out on a possible lucrative " payday" in Round Five, which if the Board were true to their word could have been invested in the squad.
