Comedy actor and game show host Nicholas Parsons has died age 96. Always remember the Benny Hill sketch " I am going to talk to some ladies who like Nicholas Parsons and then a parson who likes knickerless ladies." RIP Nicholas.
Very witty guy. I listen to radio 4 quite a bit & he was still doing "just a minute" till very recently.
Wonderfully intact speed of wit right to his end (this is not another "chopper" reference). Remarkable man.
I'm very sad to see this news. Had a soft spot for him as Kenneth Williams used to lace into him on Just a Minute all those years ago. Wonder if, like Sorry I haven't a clue, they'll try to find another chairman. There was only one Humph and there'll only be one Nicolas, but I do own up to really liking Jack Dee on isihac.
"Nicholas bloody Parsons." "What exactly was your winning slogan?" "Never, ever, bloody anything ever." "And that was your winning slogan?" "That's the one, Nicky. I've lived my life by that rule." ""I would like to spend an evening with Nicholas Parsons because -- never, ever, ever, bloody anything ever"?" "You're pissed, aren't you, Nicholas?"
You'd better watch those stairs Nicholas. Lets play a game No not fattys game, You should never play lets jump ot of the highest window when your drunk. No not fattys game your alright with us nicholas I ll go out of the room and then i come back in again. Have you got a bottle exactly same as this but unopened.
strangely his brother ( may have been twin bro) was a helicopter pilot in the army and a total nutcase
Radio 4 comedy is something I got into quite a few years back now, and don't regret it one bit. Sad news today hearing of the passing of Nicholas Parsons, genial chair of "Just a Minute". One theme from listening to the many tributes about him on the way home from work was his commitment to, and support of, new talent. He made a point of going to the Edinburgh fringe every year doing his own gigs but also going to as many of those done by newcomers who attended his. I wouldn't bet against his eulogy being read out by Paul Merton, lasting just a minute and speaking without repetition, deviation or hesitation. RIP.
I remember thinking how quick-witted he was on J.A.M then thinking, he must be getting on a bit, and checking wikipedia for his age. Wow. I'm 50 and I'm not that lucid.
Saw him on BBC4 a few years back, brilliant insight to the world's most valuable watch. RIP Mr Parsons. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo...marie-antoinettes-watch-with-nicholas-parsons
