That’s with just less than 2000 Wednesday fans Still won I suppose but that’s pretty low unless it’s down to weather conditions
People say that every time we get relegated Last 2 times we got relegated we averaged above 10k home fans It will be no different if go down . We will be swapping places with Rotherham again next season
I honestly think it will be much lower than usual if we go down. People were connected before. So many feel no connection to these faceless owners and I've noticed a drop in attendance from long term season ticket holders that is unprecedented
Last time fans had a connection to the club with Patrick, Heckinbottom and Roberts all being from Barnsley. The rogues the club got sold to aren't liked and people won't want to line their pockets. A situation like Blackpool had wouldn't be out of the question.
I think we’ll struggle to shift 6000 season tickets if I’m honest and should we stay up I think we’ll still struggle to break 8K apathy has crept in throughout this whole sorry season
You maybe right but I think this time would be different. A lot of season ticket holders don’t trust these owners after this season. We could go from the highest number of season ticket holders in the last decade to the lowest in most of our lifetime in 12 months. I certainly don’t trust them anymore.
Perversely enough. My plan is to only get a season ticket next year if we do get relegated. Not that this is my preference. The number of international breaks result in less Saturday games. Mid week games are more difficult for me to get to, plus many are available on he "Red button".
I guess our owners, for all their "research" and recruitment strategies, have put the fan base at the bottom of their list. I kind of get it from a business point of view, they have set out to make us profitable, the easy way to do this as we know is to sell players and above all else this has proven to be the golden egg. Unfortunately this summers errors in recruitment have reared the "other" side of that, we the fans (the stakeholders of this club) question their business dealings. At the end of this season, imho they will still be ok as they can sell our best players again. However, the fan base, which bought into the "most successful transfer window" and the excellent season, last year are now required to make another decision.....should we part with our hard earned and support our team? I dont believe this board has a long term plan, not that befits their suggestions, that we need to establish ourselves in the champuonship. They have failed dramatically to learn from history and footy experts and blindly gone ahead with a squad that is both far too big and lacking in experience and quality. The summer will be interesting, i will be more interested in how they repair their work with the loyal fan base and add that to their "profitability"
Wigan are w@nk Marvin. They are a small club that has bought success, and are slowly shrinking back towards where they started before the madness started. Let’s give ourselves and our fan base a bit more credit than to compare us with them.
He lived in Wombwell as a child, Yvonne Grove I believe. He was in the Year above me at Highfields County Primary.
