I still can't believe we sold Pinnock, it was baffling at the time and with hindsight it's proven to be a disastrous decision.
I think we’ve got your message. No need to keep repeating it in everything you post. This is in no way intended as any kind of defence for the board but surely they take advice from someone with far more football knowledge than themselves when it comes to player valuations. It’s looking like Pinnock may have been undervalued but no one is right all the time. I wouldn’t mind a more visible face for the adviser in the form of a Director of Football.
Guess we'll see. He is far too cumbersome on the ball to make it all the way IMO. He may get lucky and be picked up by a struggling prem side but then fade into nothingness.
He's playing unbelievably well for a club that are outside favourites for an automatic promotion push. Been MOTM more than once for them I believe and is consistently exceptional. Still only 26.
People still talk as if there’s a big jump in quality from the championship to the premier league, there’s really not. Just look at teams like Burnley, Bournemouth, Sheff Utd & some of the players they’ve had / got who don’t look out of place in the top flight. We’ve not really seen Pinnock outside of league one to judge him but if he’s good at championship level he won’t look out of place at a bottom half prem side
Brilliant bit of business..... What's more we'd better have a good sell on clause in there, but knowing our lot they probably forgot to put one in. Ooooops.
Best ball playing center half we had since probley mawson he was really good on the ball. Brentford fans were only raving about him a few weeks ago. Big mistake selling him he never forced a move we could have kept for 6 months sold in this window and I think we would be alot further up the table now but we made 3.5 million and replaced him with anderson for 800k so I suppose great business.
I think Brentford robbed us blind for Pinnock (should have been £5 million) but the scenarios here are very different. It's £6 million up front, they paid £2 million for him so the starting price is higher, he's got pedigree from Everton, he's younger, and he's played more Championship games than Pinnock at the time both players moved. Add to that his contract doesn't expire in 12 months.
