Why should I be happy that my club has held onto its better players yet has not strengthened the team. This is the least I should expect from a club with drive and ambition. When I purchased my season ticket I expect the club to do everything possible to ensure they are able to compete at this level.
Especially when those players have led us to the dizzying heights of 23rd. And so thinking that we should strengthen was obviously foolish.
Come on mate, you know it’s highly likely that the better players will be off on the summer so it’s no more than a stay of execution.
£288 for a couple of pairs for me this week. Specsavers is no laughing matter. If you go there you must need your eyes testing.
As a "shallow, myopic ******" who needs to "get a f@@king grip" it was my livelihood for a while and I disagree with your cynical sentiments. You love your family (I hope) but loving them is not your livelihood. I hope you love your football club with the same passion. There is nothing wrong with people expressing their frustration at those who appear to be mismanaging that what we love. Your supercilious patronisation that you think you know best does you no credit.
Do you show the same ambition in your personal life? It's a good day if you haven't been sacked, your house isn't sold from beneath you and your neighbour hasn't banged your wife? You don't want any better than that? So long as things haven't got any worse you're a happy man. May I remind you we're in the relegation places. We've lost our last three games shipping 8 goals. We've lost 17 this season and won only 6. But you want us to be happy. To continue the analogy from above, you can't afford the rent, you are getting kicked out come May, and you've done nothing to address that, but you're still happy. I find that odd.
Cryne used to generally sell in January when we were already looking like we could comfortably stay up. Certainly did with McIndoe, Vaz Te & Hammill. And it tended to be players in the last years of their contracts. I criticised him with January 2017 because we had a very realistic chance of making the play offs & had already generated in the region of £13m from the Stones & Mawson sell on fees so didn’t need the small in comparison Hourihane, Bree & Winnall fees. These guys seem to sell anytime & are happy to flog players with 2+ years on their contracts & not replace them. Every player signed seems to be a long term project rather than any for the here & now unless their Austrian. We apparently need to cut our cloth but have over 30 first team players on the books who are all taking a wage. It just doesn’t add up.
