Not wanting the dark ages but I would hate for it to get too sterile. Different if he was swearing but if you give it out I think you need to be able to take it and it works both ways.
Think you’re so The difference here is that one or two idiots “dish it out” to Taylor- he gives it back to the whole end. Case in point Winnall’s goal celebration. A handful if idiots give him a torrid time. He gives it back to the whole East Stand, then turns to the Ponty. He’s basically sticking his fingers up at everyone who once cheered him on. Again, ok if you’re ban adult who can understand banter. If you’re a child it’s a different story altogether. Not to mention the lack of class.
Winnall explained that his reaction was in response to a handful of messages on social media. Irrespective, do kids in the family stand need to be on the receiving end because he can’t hack it?
Oh and if you're on about Taylor, I was between the goal and the corner flag nearest the entrance. Can honestly say I didn’t hear any grief towards Taylor, even after his antics. Maybe i was in the quiet zone. Either way, he should have been booked.
Really? If we’re going to hammer an opposition player with verbals and gestures that I’m sure you wouldn’t want to see in your own line of work across football, business, home life, then are we really going to complain and get upset about said player waving at his imaginary friend in the crowd and laughing at the away fans? Ben Stokes took it too far. Cantona took it too far. Taylor didn’t really do anything.
My point being that you (i assume) me, the people around me, the kids on the front row, their parents, the kids Grandparents etc didn’t hammer him with anything. We just were on the receiving end of his taunts. He gets paid a fantastic amount to be on that pitch. I paid to be there. Yet he’s more interested in taunting our fans than watching his tea mate put a corner in the box?
More fool him . Doubt Bowyer would be too pleased he was missing play to have a dig at the opposition fans.
How many games do you see a player try to wind up the opposition fans ? 1 in 10 ? 1 in 15 ? The fans give opposition players 'dog's abuse' every game, probably in the mistaken belief it will put them off their game. In fact it has the opposite effect in so far as it is a motivational factor. If you watch football on TV when the camera shows the crowd after a goal, they are giving it 'two fingers' or 'w@nk3r'. Those moaning on here about players being 'wummers' aren't over sensitive, they just need to grow up.
no problem whatsoever. I always like to see players giving it back. I'm sure the sensitive little sausages can handle it.
Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Stop taking football so seriously. Someone in another thread said it “could have incited a riot”. How ******* ridiculous is that. Grown adults thinking about rioting because someone taunted them.
I thought it was funny. If us as fans are happy to boo and shout abuse at him, we should be able to handle a bit of banter back. At the corner he had his hands to his ears shouting 'sing my name' if I heard him right.
You have not mentioned what our fans did. It takes two to tango. None of it should happen but it does so I certainly don't wish to see players singled out if they respond to personal abuse. If we are to chastise players for responding then we should also chastise those dishing it out to the players.
That’s a very mature exchange between you two. I think you must be on the wrong Board. Taylor’s behaviour was as bad as anything I’ve seen for a long time at a game but the Ref did see him. Including his antics at the Corner. He chose not to do anything other than when they popped in their second he came and stood between the celebrating players and the Reds fans. Summed up the Refs performance frankly. Irritating and annoying but let it go. Our day will come.
This has reminded me of an away game at QPR in 1982/83. We lost 3-0 and got the rods off John Gregory of all people after he scored one of the goals. No-one had paid any attention to him until that happened.
