"In looking the other way over the president’s corruption and lawbreaking, the Republican party has offered up its soul in exchange for power."

He has not been convicted of breaking any laws, but that is not necessarily the same thing.

isn’t it weird that he’s been impeached for trying to investigate a political rival and yet on the senate committee investing him are some of the democratic nominees, one of whom will be his direct political rival in a few weeks? America politics is weird. I know our House of Lords needs reform and royal family contains some weirdo’s and perverts but I’d rather have our system.

That’s one of the most reductionist takes I’ve ever seen! You are well within your rights to investigate a fellow candidate- what he did went well beyond that. He then proceeded to lie about it until caught red handed. Disgraceful.

You missed out a couple of salient points
    • Asked a foreign country to investigate a political rival (illegal in the states)
    • Unlawfully withheld military aid assigned by congress, in exchange for dirt on an opponent.
won't even begin to explain the ways in which he has obstructed congress, just too many.
Your false equivalence is akin to saying that if the police investigate a stalker they are in fact stalkers themselves

He's a narcissistic idiot. He's not even a good businessman - if he'd put his inheritance into a standard stock market tracker he'd be richer than he is

In a poll 62% of trump supporters said there's nothing he could do that would lose their support. That's f*cking insane.

he didn’t withhold military aid. He delayed it and then released it within the allotted time frame

doesn’t make much difference. He will win the election by an absolute land slide

Its the same here. A big % of Tory voters would and do support Boris regardless of anything he says or does and a similar % of Labour supporters show / showed the same entrenched loyalty to Corbyn. Its the same everywhere, not just in America.

delayed == withheld. Released it once he got caught. Lets deal with facts. If you stole a mars bar from the corner shop, but went back and paid for it later because someone told you they had cctv, doesn't mean you didn't steal it in the first place.

    I agree wholeheartedly.
I am currently reading Michael Lewis' book "The Fifth Risk". There are some absolute gems in it. There is one, by of all people Steve Bannon, someone responsible for getting Trump elected. He was instructed by Trump to throw the 'Transitional Plan' (something a new President must draft and implement) in the garbage bin. Bannon said "Holy f*ck, this guy (Trump) doesn't know anything, and he doesn't give a sh*t." What he knew then we all know now.

Right about what? Unless you're referring to his decision to stand down I guarantee you that I won't ever say he was right.
