I don't understand how that is Klopps fault, they've reduced prices for the squad that's playing, should they have upped them to give Shrewsbury the pay day? He's well within his right to rotate the squad. The way I'd look at it is there's a chance for Shrewsbury to win, Chelsea is waiting for whoever wins. They'll still have earned a bob or two
Loses my respect for this. Theirs lallana, clyne Keita Shaqiri and origi all get on the bench. He could start them. They won’t all get injured...
Agreed. They last won it in 2006. 14 years for a club of their stature to not win the biggest domestic cup is a long time.
Shrews Manager Sam Ricketts is not impressed with Jurgens insistence on playing his reserve players. Entrance prices have been reduced meaning that Shrewsburys share of the receipts drops from £500,000 to £ 100,000 which is a lot of money to a Club in the Shrews position.
And yet he said he understood Klopp decision. Saying if you’re promised a break you should get one. The thing about money is about perspective, I get every penny is important to a team that size, but when the draw was made they would have thought there pay day was the first game, they wouldn’t have expected to get a reply (all things being equal), so you could argue the £100-£150k is a bonus.
If I was Klopp, I would make the same decision, he has the league and the Champions league to chase as well. Given the fact they have never won the league since records began)) it is an opportunity to carve his name in history, also the chance to win back to back CL which has rarely been done and not in this country since Forest. Liverpool could and I would not be surprised if they did soften the blow by donating all the taking a to Shrewsbury.
You honestly think they will blow a 22 point lead? They have taken 100 points from the last possible 102, which is an incredible feat.
i do not agree with what Klopp is doing but yet again it's the suits in the tin pot FA that cannot even arrange a winter break at the right time
2019-2020 FA Challenge Cup regulations: Each team participating in a match shall represent the full available strength of each competing Club. Jürgen Klopp: It will be the kids who play that game The FA should throw the book at them. Ps. Liverpool and the premier league agreed to fourth round replays being scheduled for during their break prior to the season commencing.
Think it's really poor. Firstly Klopp should be at the game. Even if he watches it from up in the stand he should be watching these players. Secondly they have fringe players who could actually benefit from some game time. Why do the squad members who never play need a rest? Adrian the back up keeper for example. He's taken it to a completely unnecessary extreme.
Why should they? I’m sure I’ve read that the FA and premier league insisted that teams take the 2 week shut down so that’s what they are doing, if I was a Liverpool fan I’d not want one of the first team to play tonight, trying to get to the Fifth round or being remembered as one of the greatest teams to win the premiership.........no brainier
Because the rules state that all clubs must field full strength sides and Liverpool and the premier league agreed to the scheduling of replays during this break from premier league matches. So why should they? Be sure rules dictate it that's why.
But which clubs But what clubs are actually honouring that 'rule'? Brentford rested 5 first team players in the 3rd round against Stoke! Where was the scandal there?
Once upon a time clubs used to go hell for leather trying to do the double. Seems to be meaningless now. The modern game gets worse with each passing year. I blame the FA. Should never have entertained a break, but having done so they should have fully honoured it.
