Average points is 15 which would take us to 43. If everyone achieves that Stoke City will be on 49 Points.

    Let's hope it's a 43 point 4th bottom year.

Looking at the fixtures a lot of the bottom teams play each other so points will be lost. I think 43 will keep us right in the mix. However, looking at our remaining fixtures I'd hope for 49.

If we lose Saturday there will be plenty of doom and gloom but in reality it leaves 5 slip ups. Just means you have to get the win somewhere else. We beat Fulham...who knows?

so the 2 previous seasons the side 4th bottom had 34 points the final table had them on 47 or 48 points which is where I think the cut off is likely to be
I think we are definitely down if we dont get 45 points I think we will definitely stay up with 50 points - in between it could go either way
    we need another 20 points

    Scraping the barrel here.
    Nothing left to ponder.
IMO - we will get relegated.
And we deserve to - the club has been a shambles this season.
But as I’ve said - it’s a new start by new owners so it hasn’t come as a big surprise.
What would be a big surprise is if we stayed up.
Although fans need to come to terms with the fact that we will most likely be relegated.

You were praising the board only the other week. How has the club been a shambles? There have been some shambolic things but I'm pretty sure they were thought out! I'm a season ticket holder and class myself as part of the club. Am I a shambles?

I think most fans have already come to terms with us being relegated.

It is the owners’ fault that the club has been a ‘shambles’ this season. A lot would be surprised if we stayed up (including some of the more optimistic amongst us) The end of season league table does not lie and teams finish where they deserve to. Last season’s squad would’ve comfortably finished in the top 10 I have no doubt about that.
    2 Questions Nudger:
When does it stop being a new start,?
When do the owners stop being new?

I hope to be proved wrong, but I agree. For me we've done well against the likes of Fulham, who don't try and counteract our play, like Brum did, but Fulham don't play that way & have been caught out twice. Modern football is a scissor, paper, stone scenario at this level. Both under DS & under GS we have been rigid & cancelled out after 20-30 minutes with tactics that have stopped us playing & exposed our weaknesses. Teams like Fulham, who have let us play have lost. I'm not sure there will be too many of those in the diary. I think we are down for those reasons. I think we have some great players, but our approach is too naive to stay up. I've been impressed with our new CB Soul Banger, as I choose to call him, he is that older head, but the strategy is my problem & taking of Oduor, one of our best players after 30 minutes vs Brum highlights that. Change the system, not the players. We lost that game versus Brum due to poor choices from the manager.

I'm clutching at straws but.....I realised that the number of points the teams that finished 21st got is immaterial. What we're really worried about is having a marginally better GD than the team in 22nd - for example in 2016 Rotherham escaped with 49 points, Charlton were relegated with 40 points, so that season 40 points with a better GD than Charlton would've kept you up. Revised chart attached based on that - we need to be marginally better than the teams there.

I also had a quick look at whether teams that were in the bottom 3 after 33 games had escaped. In the last 10 years, 30 teams total, 4 had escaped (us once - 2014), all 4 had been 3rd bottom (22nd) after 33 games.

Of the 4 teams that got relegated that weren't in the relegation zone after 33 games, 3 of them were 21st at that point (i.e. one spot outside), the only team that seemed 'safe' after 33 games and ended up getting relegated was us in 2012 (we were 15th, 11 points outside relegation after 33 games).

    Alright...I'm geeked out.

we didnt actually get relegated in 2012 - we finished 4th bottom. We would have gone down but for a 10 point deduction for Portsmouth though
But the rest of your analysis basically confirms we are doomed
