I get the reason they decided on the new substitute rule, but wouldn't be easier just to stop the clock while the player is leaving the pitch? IT then takes the timewasting aspect out of the equation?
You can hear on the highlights video, was first "useless" then "fat" for a few seconds till Chaplin scored
The football gets started faster if the sub can come straight on. Not just about adding the time on, there’s less waiting around for everyone.
Unsafe? What does this say about the mentality of some football fans if it is unsafe for an opposition player to walk off past them.
Well one example would be that some are drunken thugs. I know it's a sad state of affairs but it's the reality.
Nothing up with the rule. The player has to leave the pitch from the shortest way possible, no wasting time can happen, the match gets going sooner and we get home quicker from less injury time. Although I don't know how the ref got four minutes in the second half.
What I don't understand is that bahre got booked for not taking the shortest route but most of the subs took the longest route yesterday didn't they? Why was his different? Especially as he actually ran off
I thought 4 minutes was about right. The Subs, the stoppage for the ref, Bähre going off the ‘wrong’ side. Plus other little unnoticed things. Incidentally, I made it that he blew about 30- 40 seconds early
I think it’s because the ref told him to go off the nearest point. I saw the ref point to the East Stand side. As you say though he was running off anyway.
There are two things wrong with the rule. First theres a safety issue and second theres a guy walking round the pitch in full kit causing confusion (the Salah incident). Subs arent allowed to wear match tops when warming up and theres a reason.
Why couldn’t he be just professional and ignore the idiot. If he was offended by anything said he should’ve reported it to the stewards/ match officials. As I posted earlier in this thread, Brad Collins got w@nker gestures and other verbals as he approached the Boro end at the start of the game, and he simply ignored it
I dont think there's really a safety issue. The player is only one yard closer than he is usually anyway if he's down the wing. Further away from the stand than taking a throw in or corner etc. The kit issue is a different matter and the only solution to that is either to have mandatory reversible shirts with a different colour inside or to have bibs around the pitch. Personally I'd just let them leave anywhere but there would be a maximum time limit allowed. If he hasn't got off the pitch within X amount of seconds then the substitution is cancelled and the side has lost the sub. That would stop it instantly
True but on here someone said all the stick is fine as long as it isnt racist or sectarian well I agree but if your going to offer players out dont cry when they give it back, or in winnalls case rub it in when they score.
He got stick for his petulant toys out of the pram actions when not getting a throw in, deserved stick in my opinion.
