The thing you did get wrong was win 3 in a row and start the final sprint on an equal footing with the teams above us. Unfortunately some of them had the strange idea of winning games as well. No one could have thought that if we won 3 in a row starting with the Fulham game we would still be 5 (effectively 6 with GD) points from safety. That said pre fulham we were 9 points from safety ( 10 with GD) so things are better
You make a really valid point. I didn't expect the others to keep winning. The only solace i take from it is that we need to see it as a race to 50 points and ignore week by week results. Is we can get to 50 we've got a shout. If we don't get to 50 it's all over. I still believe it's in our hands in that if we won all our games we'd stay up
Blame game thread dont forget to repeat what was said last time this came up. All aboard the Skylark.
So does the fact that Struber took over a team which had been together and got to know eachother for a third of a season and experience the level for that long (as opposed to a bunch of kids mostly unknown to eachother with the majority having barely a game at the level between them); and the fact he was allowed to sign two older heads with more experience, not count for anything? He’s got a better ppg so he’s a good manager and much better than Stendel? Is that where the aim is here? Sorry. I’ve seen the last three performances against relegation rivals. We don’t have a great squad but we have more ability in attacking areas than we’ve seen over the last 270 + minutes of football. He has done a relatively decent job, that I don’t argue against. But with markedly different tools to the previous manager. Though he’s done ok, yes. But these last three games tell me he’s not all that. I’d sooner die falling on my sword than with a toothless, frightened whimper. We’ve barely laid a glove on three of the worst sides in the division, scoring one relatively poxy goal by shoving the huge centre back up top and throwing it in the mixer, whilst drawing blanks against the other two, losing one of them in an embarrassing manner. Had we won even one of those games we’d have had a real chance of survival; two, and I think we would have stayed up. We won none of them. None. If you can’t beat any of your rivals for relegation, it rarely matters who else you do beat. The six point differential between a win and defeat due to their proximity to you in the table kills you. He hasn’t got the team setup or motivated correctly for the games which were the most important. We have been, let’s be honest, bloody awful in four of the six games since lockdown. We only lost one, but the three draws were woeful, toothless performances.
Nice bloke but doesn’t fill me with confidence going into next season time for yet another change unfortunately
20 shots at Luton none of the bottom sides playing that well perhaps Luton are the in form team including a draw at Leeds.
Before Struber took over I thought we'd struggle to get 30 points. We're now on 43 and he's done well with a squad lacking quality at this level. He deserves credit for that. Ultimately though all that matters is the fact that we're probably going down...
