We've got the equipment for two new data centres on order from one of the major computer manufacturers. At the moment, we are expecting significant delays with delivery of the equipment and associated project slippage.
Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. This is being felt all all stages of the product lifestyle. Even things that are not 'made in china' are assembled from parts that are. The other big manufacturer is South Korea, which is also heavily shut down. It's made even worse by the fact that it was Chinese New Year (when all the factories shut down for 2 weeks anyway) right before this outbreak.
The UK press have been typical in making a situation seem much worse than it is, resulting in people being in a panic stressing over it. 67.7 million people live in the UK and 53 people here have the virus. Of course we should be careful and following advice and not get complacent. But we shouldn't be worrying about it.
It’s stupid to just look at the UK stats though isn’t it. You have to look at the speed of contamination, global mortality rates etc. Plus the fact that there’s no vaccine and likely won’t be until the end of the year
53 people being confirmed as having the virus does not mean that only 53 people have the virus. This is the issue.
OK using this........ https://percentagecalculator.net/ The percent 53 is of 67700000 is 0.00007828655834564255. An hour ago 92,000 worldwide cases were mentioned...... https://edition.cnn.com/asia/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-03-04-20-intl-hnk/index.html 7.7 billion people in the world. The percent 92000 is of 7700000000 is 0.0011948051948051947. So it's a bit higher based off the whole world but most of the cases are in China where few from over here visit.
Pandemic experts predict that between 30% and 80% of the UK population could get COVID-19 at some point in 2020. With a death rate of 2% (it is higher in some places), that could kill somewhere between 400,000 and 1 million people in the UK. There is a chance that it will mutate to a harmless form. There is also a chance in will mutate into a more virulent form. There is a chance we could get a vaccine quicker. There are also supply side problems (already experiencing those) and with so many people in a gig economy needing to work, it is likely that the infection rate in the UK will be on the higher side.
btw seriously a survey in America found that some people are scared they can catch Corona virus from a corona
Same here. I’m sure I’d be fine but I don’t want to pass it on to my mum for example as she’d be at great risk if she contracted it. I’m very aware that Mother’s Day is coming up so I will be going to visit and that there have been confirmed cases in Leeds where I live and Bradford where I work.
Again I am no medical expert - not even close but as this corona virus comes from a known type of virus and there are a considerable percentage of people (unlike Ebola) who have recovered they obviously have developed antibodies to fight off the virus.. Would that not mean a 'shortcut' to develop a vaccine and speed up trials? I understand people rarely catch the same cold repeatedly. Most times you 'catch a cold' you have not had before which is why as you get older you seem to get fewer colds than when you were young(or it could be that your social life goes 't*ts up' when you have kids and they finally leave home and you dont go out as much! )
its already happening bud,I drive HGV's on shipping containers and the work is extremely slow with most pointing the finger at coronavirus
Yep, I know it’s already happening, but it will become even more of an issue soon as each stage of the process runs out of their stock buffer.
All but 3 from people known to be in contact with the disease - its the 3 thats slightly more worrying - 34 is a big jump in 1 day wonder if thats just because a load of people held off over the weekend and all went for screening on Monday or if the disease is starting to gain a foothold here - which will then probably mean it starts to increase its spread fairly quickly
I'm not sure self-isolating is the right way to go. How do patients know they have the Corona virus? Will there be penalties for going on the razz whilst your supposed to be self isolating?
