The most promising player that you have seen live or on TV lately.? For me, it's got to be eighteen year old Glaswegian Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour. He has vision, anticipation and touch way in advance of his tender age. Had a great game against Liverpool in the Cup recently and was the stand out player in yesterday's 4-0 rout of Everton. As Frank Lampard said in his postmatch interview, he's not in the least bit concerned about the boys age, as his undoubted talent is there for all to see. If that lad can remain fit and avoid serious injury, alongside Ross Barkley and Mason Mount, he could go onto develop into one of the best midfield players in the Premiership. He could also be one of the first names on Steve Clarke's team sheet for Scotlands National team, for many seasons to come. A truly outstanding talent. https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-billy-gilmour-scotland-rangers-17888753
He was brilliant to be fair. The game on Sunday he strolled through. I'd like to put forward Bellingham at Brum, he's a talent too.
Yep he's another one Fonzie. Adam Idah of Norwich also caught the eye with his hat trick in the 4-2 Cup win against Preston North End recently.
Looks more like Billy Casper but great strength for someone of such slight build. Great prospect and good to see young talent being given a chance. Let's hope no one reminds him he's Scottish or he'll suddenly become gash
I like Billy Gilmour. Can't not like someone who shares their name with two different Adam Sandler movies.
He’s looked brilliant, the only problem is he’ll end up been a bit part player when Kante, Jorginho & Kovacic return. The depth Chelsea have got is incredible, top class experienced players & some of the best youngsters around. They’ve got at least 2 quality players for every outfield position. Why people are making out Lampard is doing an excellent job is beyond me. They should be above Leicester & well clear of Man Utd, Wolves, Sheff Utd etc.
Just been reading in today's paper, that 16 year old Bellingham and his parents were picked up by a chauffeur and driven to Manchester United's training complex at Carrington yesterday. It's rumoured that United have offered Brum £30 million for the lad and hope that he is allowed to sign in time for the new season. His wages re- a reported £60k per week, shouldn't be a problem. He can't sign a professional contract until he turns seventeen on June 29th and his wage at Birmingham at the moment is said to be £150 per week.! United are also said to be planning a bid approaching £70 million for Villas Jack Grealish who is currently earning £60 k per week. It's rumoured that United have offered him £180 k per week, if he agrees to the switch.
That's what I was thinking JP. Can't imagine the delight that lad and his family must have felt at Carrington yesterday. Absolutely made for life. Riches beyond their wildest dreams. Let's hope that the lad is grounded and is mentored in the right way.
Indeed. A very strong kid. Reminded me of a young Rooney (obviously was playing wide versus us). I wish him all the best, a proper talent. These players never get to play more than a bunch of Championship games before they are whisked away to the reserve team of a Premiership club. It's a shame in a way. back in the day we got over 250 games out of Big Mick before he moved to City. We saw Stones play 24 games, mostly as full back, Mason Holgate 20. It's why I think football is a bit **** these days. Only habit, friendship & sentimentality are stopping me sacking it off.
