Exactly. When you’re emotional, you’re irrational. It’s bad, no one is denying that. But when you’re upset and emotional you aren’t making the correct rational decisions
Here we go, here’s another one, getting all irrational and emotional. I’ll say it again, slowly. Advice and measures should be targeted at the elderly and vulnerable. That means not visiting your elderly relatives if there’s any small chance you’re carrying the virus. It means protecting and helping that community. Closing schools doesn’t do that - as Jay has said it does the opposite. This is exactly what they’re trying to guard against.
Quite right. As horrible as it is; you’re in the at risk group. You’re exactly the ones who need measures targeting at them. Please be careful mate.
My entire point is that they haven't advised any measures to protect the elderly, other than don't go on cruises. This is the whole problem I've been arguing. I know elderly people that are going about their business as normal because "the government hasn't said to stop doing anything. We're washing our hands like we are supposed to." People won't take notice until the government tell them to.
I fully agree with you mate. They completely should be talking to and advising the elderly and immunocompromised specifically. I’ve been at Cheltenham today - there were loads of doddery old blokes who clearly shouldn’t be in a massive crowd. I don’t understand why they aren’t doing that and are instead talking about generic nonsense like shutting schools, which does less than zero to protect the vulnerable.
I don't understand - what's your point? Are you saying the virus by-passes rich people? I never knew..
OK As you appear to have so much more knowledge than me - can you explain in terms I'd understand. If BoJo is following the advice of the best experts in the world... After having come into contact with someone who has the virus; his chosen course of action is to 'not get tested because he isn't showing any symptoms'. That appears to be counter to the advice that NHS England have published, but as you say, he's taking the best advice and acting on it. So can you explain that to me please?
What are you talking about? And why? I have zero interest in whether or not Boris Johnson gets tested. I haven't mentioned the subject, I have no idea why you're rattling on about it. I don't care.
Where did I say you have an interest in whether he'd be tested? Straight question - if as you suggest he's following the best advice - why has he refused a test 'because he has no symptoms'; it's a simple question - and your post at #79 defends his position re 'following the best advice'. So I thought you could enlighten us.
He was flanked at the press conference by the chief medical officer and chief scientific advisor, who were actively providing answers to questions and giving a rationale for their decisions. So if you are accusing Johnson (someone i despise for the record) of not taking the correct advice what are your opinions of them????
I have to give Boris credit, for the first time in his life he seemingly told the truth (admitting people will die) AND he listened to experts. Makes a change to be fair
I cannot stand him but i think it is fair to say he cannot win whichever decision he makes. It is a tough call and there is a lot the scientists dont even know at this stage.
I completely agree. Furthermore when you hear Labour and the SNP both supporting the advice being given there has to be some confidence that we are doing the right thing.
STOP eighting *****, stick wi a nice pork pie and a cuppa, end of caronavirus's, Monkey brain butty, Bat sarnie, Snake stew, wot the fooook.
You are very welcome to come to Italy and experience the 'mild inconvenience'. Oh! I forgot you can't as we are in lockdown. Complacency is just as dangerous as 'over-reaction'
The problem last night on QT was the counter opinion from the bloke who just would not accept anything that had been presented and at times was almost hysterical. He is fuelling fears and was, in my opinion, very irresponsible. At one point I thought he was close to being asked to leave the panel.
I hate Boris and all he stands for but can’t fault the press conference yesterday. The point that many people are missing is that in the long term the majority of the population are probably going to get it. In essence that is a good thing to build up herd immunity. The strategy is to delay and flatten the peak of contagion so the the health service has a better chance of coping with the extremely ill.
Advisers advise Politicians make decisions based on more than advice given by experts, they also have political reasons for doing things. And back to my point - Johnsons 'reason' for not getting a test is contrary to any publicly available advice, so I'm not sure I trust his judgement.
He followed the advice for the country, I have zero interest what he does personally. But if you'd actually listened the advice is to self isolate if you have symptoms, don't call 111 unless you become really ill, at which point you will be tested, otherwise you won't.
