https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51876162. I hope not, but the fa/efl will have a masive set of decisions to make if they decide to abandon this season. I do not want Barnsley to go down, but we have not earned enough to stay up. Liverpool are mathamatically catchable, but I really do not see it. They have earned the right to the title. the lower leagues would take a bit of sorting though as indeed the bottom of the premier league. If they decide to terminate the season and relegate/promote on the current standings I think I would accept that . But many other teams would argue the toss, and I could understand that too. A thorny issue for the suits.
Interesting dilemma, isn't it? Do we really deserve to be rescued by a season 'cancellation'? I rather think not. Do Liverpool deserve to be denied a first top division title since King George died? No. Call time on it. I don't want to be tempted back for another season of survival roulette with our 'Sale Of The Century' Board!
Liverpool have won the top flight title 18 times, lat in 89/90 but these days their titles get ignored as non were under the premier league banner.
I can see lots of clubs going down the legal route if the season cannot be finished and they get relegated (plus those vying for promotion). In fact all teams that could mathematically make the play-offs.
I think cancelling the season would be the worst option and most unfair overall. 78% of the season has already been played. I could possibly understand this being a serious option if only a quarter of the season had been played. Id much rather games be played behind closed doors if it meant the matches were played. If the rest of the games cannot be fulfilled by an acceptable date then just delay the start of next season.
Liverpool not being crowned as champions, and us not being relegated? It would be awful, terrible, unjust. I don't know how I'd be able to live with it.
Sorry about that silent post. I keep seeing this stuff about the Board selling the Crown Jewels. But: Davies allowed his contract to run down. Moore said he had "outgrown Barnsley.". Lindsay refused to even talk about a new contract. Pinnock a London boy was linked to Brentford for most of last season and that's where he ended up. I am sure the Board would have kept all of these players if any of them had shown any loyalty to the club. But they didn't did they? And the Board takes the blame!
All fair comment TQO, but can we really say that the Board secured adequate replacements before they agreed to those sales? That is the real crime in my opinion. It wasn't fair to Stendel, it wasn't fair to the players remaining, and it wasn't fair to us fans - again in my opinion. But I know I've banged on about this to everyone's irritation, so I'll go quietly! Hope Cheltenham was good to you!
OK. Anyone who is prepared to accept the results of a "League", before every game has been played, is as drunk as you probably are now. How can it be fair and equitable to say who's won when each team has not played each other, home and away? But please continue with your abuse and profanities, if it helps you either fill or empty your glass.
since being diagnosed as having developed diabetes I no longer take in alcohol. Buy hey you just keep your blinkers on.
You can’t just end the season and say that’s how it stands could you? Yes Liverpool are virtual champions but most promotion and relegation places are in the balance. Some have better run ins than other you can’t just discard that.
