Nearly all bankers, insurance agents etc can - who cares about the huge numbers that cant - I think Boris is only really thinking about office staff most of who can at least a lot of the time. People in manual jobs cant do that though, or the service industry.

In some ways this is lose lose though we have to keep industry functioning as we will need it when we get through the other side of this but if people go to work they are far more likely to catch and spread the disease. Im fortunate I can work from home as long as I dont get laid off - which is a real risk as manufacturing is going to take a massive hit in the coming months - buying the new car or upgrading electronic equipment definitely going to be delayed for many people - maybe a few things will get a surge but most things are going to be down for the next year or so and I fear many companies are going to have to slash staff if they can stay in business at all. And as for the leasure industry - no idea what we are going to find that looks like this time next year but its not going to be good

As a DJ company I'll have 2k overheads per month for the next 3-4 months (possibly longer) & no income. Work that out Tory boys.

I agree. But a lot of people in a clerical/office environment can. I'm thinking about Local Government
and Civil Service personnel many of whom are not in direct contact with the public.

Thought the government wanted the healthier populace to catch this virus? Hmmm by avoiding pubs and the like are we not storing up a massive problem for the future as no one will have ‘herd immunity’?

Sounds like arse covering ballax to me

Carry on as normal then they will be forced to close them down but they can then claim on their insurance ;)

I recognise that BLP. I was attempting to outline how easy it might be for anyone involved in clerical/office
work to work from home , with little or no effect on their effectiveness to carry out their normal day to day duties.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of occupations where it is not possible to implement an alternative
method of working and it's those sectors that will be adversely affected.

It's just been on the late news, that the Government are intending to make extra funds available to
support industry. Be interesting to learn how much is to be provided and who is to recieve that money
to help cushion any fiscal hardship caused by this very worrying virus.
