But then the incoming sponsor doesn’t get the full x amount of years worth that they expect to have entered a contract for, so would want to reduce the fee in relation to the lesser contract.
Well yes depending on how they propose going forward after this season is complete it could well mean the following season is shorter in some way in which case any incoming sponsor will want to pay less but that isn't a legal issue it's simply a negotiating issue
It will be unprecedented and it will make a lot of difference to some teams. Imagine if the season goes into July and a team loses half their players because they're out of contract. It's different to losing players during a transfer window.
Also when is the transfer window due to open? You can imagine players and/or agents claiming for restraint of trade if it is pushed back and players under contract aren’t allowed to sign for new teams. If the window does open you may then have players at relegation threatened sides wanting to leave which could destabilise clubs with only a few games to go.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1584803651 Paused my Sky Sports today through my online account. Didn't bother earlier as the idea of trying to get through on hold with thousands of others wasn't appealing. Now it's been made very easy and they unpause it when sport returns. BT on the other hand aren't being so nice.
Yes I’ve read about BT. Unfortunately for me I get both Sky sports and BT sports through BT and if I cancel them I think I need to subscribe to a new 2 year broadband contract to get them back. Not sure if I can just pause them and then continue. Was waiting a few days for the rush to die down
I find it bloody unbelievable that these companies are not offering automatic cancellation of sports subscriptions until further notice. There won't be a ball kicked, thrown or batted for months. What are they taking money for. When flights are cancelled because of the current position, airlines can't say tough, we are keeping your money. Why are Sky allowed to do that. You shouldn't have to contact them, they should just be processing the refunds automatically. It just shows how rapacious these companies are. My fervent hope is that, if one good thing comes out of this crisis, it's that people realise, now it has been forced upon them, that they can live without 24 hour sport, and that a large percentage of the people who have temporarily suspended their subscription never go back.
Virgin now letting you pause for 3 months but keep the channels. Just go in to help and support and fill in your details. Says due to reduced staffing may be a delay but form easy enough to complete just need personal detail, account number and area code which is on your bill.
They were fine for me, I have huge discounts on my account and thought they would say if I cancelled they would take the discount off as I'm still in contract. They just cancelled the sport off (30 days notice) knocked the bill down.
