Most definitely and his credentials just keep getting better. In my opinion he will replace Boris, sooner or later.
Employees would either be on 80% salary or the employer can top it up. Bare in mind that no work means no travel costs, likely to be cheaper food costs at home, which makes it not a bad offer. Much better than getting laid off, which is the alternative.
You will pay tax on it. From what I understand you are paid as normal, except at 80% rate, then your employer recovers the cost from the government as a grant.
When I packed work in a few years ago to care for the missus (I was a self employed cleaner on building sites all over Yorkshire) I was amazed by how much less money we were spending each week....50 quid a week straight away in fuel.
I imagine in your case this announcement is pretty much perfect? Really hope it serves you well, mate.
It's an amazing offer and above and beyond what my sector thought they may announce. This protects jobs, for now, so the business owners can begin to focus on saving their companies. The amount of people that have sacrificed the last 96 hours in favour of their people seriously warms my heart. Incredible and sad at the same time.
You repeatedly advocated for doing nothing and allowing 500,000 people to die. Do you know what there is no way out of? Death.
I stopped counting at 100k worth of cancellations over a period of 4 days last week. The hardest thing though is telling our staff that their jobs are at risk. We're only a small company that employs 15 staff but some have been with us for 20+ years and are like family. It's been devastating for everyone but we're not alone in this, it's worldwide. It's going to be a long old slog, but we just have to carry on and do our best.
Just FYI - The idea is that you pay your staff as normal then get the money back as a grant from the govt. I imagine many small businesses will make use of the interest free loan for this purpose
Daughter just returned from Liverpool.and shook hands with some athletico Madrid fans apparently . Watch this space!
it does make you feel like that Jay,this whole issue imo is hell of a lot worse than what we are being told
In terms of the hospitality sector, I don't know the exact details but there's a rent or tax bill due next Wednesday that the government still haven't waived. The issue here is that there won't be any money to pay staff wages and claim back unless the government agree to a delay. Still trying to piece everything together, but the above has come from the CEO of UK Hospitality who has been challenging the government almost hourly and doing an amazing job.
