Sorry to post another virus thread, but thought I would share views from overseas, I am in Colorado. We have had 4 registered deaths in my city so far, but the people are still going along with their normal lives as some are doing over in Britain which I cannot believe. Food and essentials are off the shelf as soon as they are stocked, beer and alcohol ok for now so my fridge is stocked up. I cannot believe some people, panic buying and leaving young and elderly people to suffer, our supermarkets have had signs on shelving saying there are limits to 5 items per visit, but why would they do this, surely it should be limited to 1 per visit. My job (Collision Repair Estimator) is still unaffected but I am seeing less people daily which is ok, sooner have people call and cancel than visit me in my 8x8 office anyways. My Mum lives in Thurnscoe still, I have just called her and wished her Happy Mother's Day. She is recovering from a double hip surgery. For the first few weeks of recovery, my nephews and nieces have been checking in on her on a daily basis which I cannot thank them enough for, but recently that has had to stop for obvious reasons. Worrying times for all and I am sure it may take time to get a stranglehold on the situation and beat this. I see stories from all over the world posted by Barnsley fans on here and on Twitter, I just thought I would share my thoughts. All the best from a Brit Abroad. COYR
Hope your mum makes a full.recovery. I fear for the spread in America, I think people will be slow to go to a doctor because of the cost and will.keep on working to pay bills, spreading it further.
The cost faction may affect a lot of people like you mention, people over here as I am sure everywhere in the world just are not taking precautions seriously, mostly the younger generations. I work with a mid-20's guy and he has been sick for about a month but still coming in to work, I told him to stay away from my office and my clients, I think the American term is Douchebag.
Stay safe Dave and best wishes to your Mum. The world is going to be a very different place after this.
I wouldn't knock anybody for posting a thread about Coronaviras as too much news is not enough, and were all learning about this horrible position the World's bin put in, I personally av said in the past let nature tek its course, and wot happens happens, A BIT SELFISH. I just cant see it ending as easily as it started, UNLESS, Every Country throughout the World goes on lockdown at the same time for the same amount of time.
Just watched news, loads climbing Snowdonia and some exercising in Park on frames because Gym is closed. When asked why, one bloke said the Government arnt being clear enough on what to do, are they for real?
heyup pal, if by any chance your mum needs anything from the shops or any help during these tough times feel free to send me a PM. A couple of us from round here are hoping to start doing the shopping/pharmacy runs for the elderly so they’re not forced to go out. hope she’s back fighting fit very soon!
Collision Repair Estimator? Is that those blokes who look at your car with a pained expression whilst stroking their chin whilst shaking and heads?
We aren't being advised to go to the doctor here though if presenting symptoms as there's nothing they can really do clinically. I guess when an American presents at hospital or is taken by ambulance whilst suspected of having the virus then they will be treated under the labour bill. If this is a homeless person or someone who has no insurance they are treated by law if they require critical care.
emirates stopped all flights, malls closed, beaches closed, parks closed, we are not far off total lockdown here at the moment. Supermarkets are still open and seem to be coping at the momnet , plenty of stock Im also in the collsion repair industry Dave - good luck ! hope your using audatex
In other news the bloody Commies... Cuba have sent a team of doctors to Italy to help out. They also offered a safe harbour to a stricken cruise ship in Havana which no other country would let dock. Meanwhile in America the price of medical supplies (where they’re already more expensive than almost everywhere) has gone through the roof as demand has gone up.
Lockdown, the whole world wants to lockdown, all at the same time, all for the same lengh of time. Or its gunna go on for as long as weve got old sick and volunrable people.
Don't talk to me about bluddy Emirates. I got an email early Sunday morning telling me they'd cancelled the flight to Dubai for the first leg of my flight home on Thursday night; no offer of an alternative flight and no way of contacting them to sort one. Spent most of Sunday booking new flights, with Emirates - they are surprisingly easy to contact when you're spending money - and am currently stuck in Dubai airport for the next 30 hours, awaiting the last flight to Gatwick tomorrow (my car's in Manchester!) Lovely People! Can't get out of the airport unless you're an Arab. At least I get plenty of time to observe the many styles of virus avoidance currently being practiced.
Not that too long ago many Cuban doctor's were driving taxis to earn a living (etc) as many medical facilities were shut down because they didn't have any medical supplies as a consequence of the disgraceful trade embargos. However I don't think Cuban doctor's being sent the world over has much if anything to do with communism.
My point was that despite the rest of the world treating them pretty poorly, they are still being the ‘nice guys’ whereas the richest country in the world is just looking for ways to make a profit out of this crisis.
