Not sure if true but just seen on Twitter It got raided this afternoon. Owner has got a 15k fine and each person who was in has a 1k fine each. As a say not sure how true just what ive seen retweeted on Twitter
On the spot fine? Would have thought the punishment if any would have been made clear when announced though
Doesn't sound right does it.? The Police can issue on the spot fines, but surely not at those levels and for that type of offence, unless of course they've been granted special powers. Been watching some of the footage on the news. People flocking to parks, beauty spots, the coast etc, because they think that if they are in the big outdoors, they are safe. If they don't heed the warnings and take the advice to stay home seriously, it's not going to be too long, before further restrictions are imposed and you will probably need some kind of official documentation to leave the house unless you are buying food.
as of 5pm yesterday there were no powers in place for licence holders ignoring the closure. I know they are obviously looking to change this but doubt very much that any change passed was done on a Sunday.
Not been in for about 5/6 yrs but I used to go in regularly, good down to earth folks although that looks like it's changed & if it's true, then they should be be fined. My point is, you must have gone in at some point yourself.
Most of what he's said in the last couple of weeks has been proven to be untrue, so I wouldn't trust anything from him.
HMRC and the border force can issue NOPLs, notices of public liability for things like paying staff below minimum wage or employing illegal immigrant labour. The government may be looking to extend this to the cops at some point but would require at least secondary legislation. However, I think if this incident had happened it would be national news
I would say it's happening all over the country but couldn't be sure. Although I don't agree and would never go into a pub it's bound to happen, the landlords are desperate to keep afloat & they will always be folk who will oblige them.
Any pub sneakily operating in private should be permanently shut down under the current licensee. I would go as far as to ban for life any landlord or landlady from ever running another pub.
I read that they had been sneaking customers in through back door but was caught out and reported to police. Not sure how true that is because it come from Facebook...
Personally, if any of those "customers" contracted COVID-19, I would be prosecuting them for corporate manslaughter - irrespective if the infection was on the premises or not.
I would imagine that "lock-ins" are happening all over the place nationwide. It will take very severe cases of fines and/or other punishments for this to be taken heed of by the hard of thinking. Even then it will keep going on. Selfish!
