Committed his future to the Blades by signing a contract to stay until 2024. They've done well in their first season back in the Premiership. Wouldn't be surprised in the least, if Wilder manages to keep them there.
In most seasons I’d say so but this ones a bit different. Liverpool are currently on course for a record points total & if they do that and / or win back to back champions league then Klopp would probably win it. Also if Leicester finish 2nd or even 3rd under Rodgers then I’d argue that’s better than Sheff Utd finishing in the lower half of the top 10
The new Brian Clough. Gets a team of ‘has beens’ and ‘castoffs’ and moulds them into one of the best football teams to watch. Incredible!
I quite like Wilder, basic and down to earth. Its been a success story. I hope they do stay up, they are just 11 points away from the fabled 40 points, I see no reason why they will cannot reach that and beyond.
Absolutely superb manager and credit where it's due. Die hard blade, managing the club he loves, fair play to the man.
Wilder looked as sick as a parrot when West Ham "scored" in added time. However, once again VAR intervened and the goal was ruled out for handball. Having watched the incident back, I have to say I feel a tad sorry for the Hammers. As Declan Rice burst towards the United box, the Blades defender headed the ball. Yes it bounced off Rice's chest and then hit his arm, but it was not deliberate as far as Rice was concerned. He squared the ball and Snodgrass shot and the ball went in off the post, but the Hammers joy was short lived when it was reviewed and disallowed. VAR is not wanted in Premier League - West Ham's Declan Rice http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51071770
They’re on 32 points now, I doubt they need much more than one more win and a couple of draws. Mid thirties should be enough this year. Given the club it grates a little - but I have to say I really find myself wishing them well. Lovely to watch, doing it without throwing ridiculous unsustainable money at it and in the right way. It is some achievement and I’d love for them to get into the Europa league. That would be unbelievable as an achievement. And probably balls it up for them next season... !
Yep. Their squad wasn't even above average for the Championship, yet he's got them up to 5th in the Premier League ffs. It's incredible what he's done. God I hope he leaves them soon.
well they are now 8 points from the so caalled magic 40 after last night. And yes I agree they may still manage a place in Europe too.
Just watched Football Focus which included a Face time chat with Chris Wilder. Have to say, my admiration of the man grows everytime I hear what he's got to say. When asked how disruptive the Covid-19 pandemic was to Sheffield Uniteds season, he responded by saying there are far more important considerations at this time. He added, that this is not all about the Premiership, it's about the leagues below and at the grass roots and it's a concern for everyone industry wide.
