While I was traveling to Sheffield yesterday I noted the motorway was a lot quieter and was predominantly haulage traffic but once in the urban and city areas the traffic was not far of normal, passed an Asda on the Sheffield parkway just passed Catcliff and the car park was packed

It’s doing my head in. We went for a walk yesterday close to where we live. Barely saw a soul anywhere. The nearest person was about 100metres away. Yet someone has questioned that we went out. We are sticking to the rules but I am encouraging my kids to go out on bikes or for a walk every day. If this is wrong the Government needs to ban it because what Im seeing is people trying to abide by the rules, but there’s obviously alot more of them because they’re not at work/ gym/ school etc.

My annoyance yesterday was how Tesco staff at Wath seem to be undermining their own measures. When the 2 metres queues first started, customers were directed to queue around the perimeter, so there was only the person in front and behind anywhere near you. They are now zig-zagging it, so you've got people to the right and left of you as well as front and behind. This is encouraging people to talk, laugh and joke with those they know in other tranches of the queue and every other person seemed to be chatting on their phones. A lot of people seem oblivious to the fact that speaking transmits the virus just like coughing and sneezing does. The stewards have been issued with visors which they aren't pulling down and some staff inside the store were chatting in pairs close up to each other.

I go for a daily walk in the countryside for a hour to take in approx 3-4 miles. It's a good way to keep mentally and physically healthy and by the end of April that will be around 100 miles walked. It's easy to avoid people as you don't see many anyway. Those you do see you give plenty of space to and people are even more friendly than usual to strangers saying thank you and hello. Walking is allowed and a great way to pass long days.

Last thursday on the daily briefing they noted an up-tick in private vehicle usage and since then the roads have got significantly busier which I've observed on my daily bike ride, today wasn't significantly quieter than a normal thursday as far as I could see.

Non essential workers are working basically, especially the self employed ones.

Yes, down our side road (Leeds) there's a lot more cars going by than in previous days.

The roads have been dead. I’m a courier and we’ve been doing 14 hour shifts thru this virus due to high volumes, it’s actually been busier than Christmas but that’s another story....

the roads are extremely quiet though.

Just returned from our daily walk ,slightly busier car wise, one person on the bus that passed us at rush hour, could be commuters. I'd reckon 80/90 percent quieter. I think some people are just driving around aimlessly to pass the time.

Do you think there's the slightest possibility that the guy works in haulage?

Fair point, I apologise and admit I didn’t think of that.

It just made me chuckle the way it was worded.

Genuine question, not being accusatory here, would someone in haulage be in Belgium for a solid 2 week period?

Not sure why my experience is different to most others but I drove around 8 miles to Asda in Carcroft and 8 miles back, around 6.30pm on Tuesday (back around 8pm) and I could count the cars I saw both ways on 1 hand. It's the furthest I have driven for a month - I haven't been out of a 2 mile radius since early March, but I recall thinking this is fun, it was how I imagine driving would have been like in the 1950s.
