    Best - Liverpool away 1982
Worst - toss up reading or qpr. Anytime away QPR fans can make a noise though.

Best - probably Liverpool away in 82 - though the cup one there a few years ago wasnt bad either ( missed the prem game there)
good shouts for Wigan - promotion, Huddersfield great escape and Bristol Rovers - promotion last season

Worst - Brighton at the Withdean small roofless temporary stand miles from the pitch and other stands, but Reading QPR worth a mention

Millmoor 81/82 season. I took my girlfriend who had never been to a match before (she was from Bishop's Stortford and Glen Hoddle was one of her neighbours), she was totally blown away by it. It was some occasion.
I'm struggling to think of the worst, the Reds fans always seem to make a lot of noise and enjoy themselves.

One of the strangest was Cambridge United when we had the away end terrace which was only about 5 deep. At half time the girl in the refreshments kiosk was struggling to serve the crowd so a Reds fan ducked under the counter and started helping her, the banter was hilarious.

In some respects charlton away 80/81 season, went off-piste as staying in london, ended up getting chased round by about two dozen millwall fans, but never boring I suppose. (BTW Play-off final against them, actually had some decent banter, both before and after game- must be unique) Most boring was Leicester away 81/82 season, just MEH and maybe Wednesday away this season, one dubious chant, fans setting flares off, flat wednesday fans, over policed when it didnt matter, underpoliced when it did.
Best, rotherham 2-4 as some have said is up there but for me Man Utd away 1998 FA cup 1:1 and better side, 8000 reds fans and a prawn sandwich brigade who were stunned

I think for consistent excellent noise, the Wigan away game in 2016 with the victory getting us into the play offs is as good as I can recall. Pretty much everyone was joining in with every song, which doesn't often happen even during good games, it was very very impressive throughout.

Charlton away in.... I want to say 2012 but could be wrong. Thomas Cywka scored our winner and the top section of the away end was very vocal throughout. A top day out that was.

    Worst:
MK Dons away in 2015. We lost 1-0 or 2-0, it was part of six consecutive defeats away from Oakwell and we were going absolutely nowhere. Perhaps about 400 fans attended and sat in silence watching a wretched game.

Middlesbrough away back in 2012, a night game, we lost 2-0. A decent following went up that night but the atmosphere was appalling. We were squashed into a very small cordoned off section, a good few fans got split up and I remember a few young lads getting pelters from fellow supporters for trying to get songs going at the back of the stand. It just wasn't going to be the night for an atmosphere clearly. Depressing.

Oh and yes, Wednesday away this season. A farce trying to get tickets before hand, no refreshments, questionable fan behaviour, awful police behaviour, a miserable atmosphere where we appeared beaten from the first 5 minutes. Just so very flat. Brilliant evening in Sheffield afterwards though!

Best - releagating Chedfield United to League One. Counting down the time: you're going down in three minutes! Down in three minutes!

Worst - the 3-0 at Forest when we really needed to win and just gave up. Yeah, I guess we're going down, then, Jose.

Worst away was a 5-0 hammering at Blackburn. We were 5 down at half time.

Best away was winning at Leeds around the same time 2-0. Jerry Taggert in midfield for most of the game, we played about 6 at the back till the last 20. Both around 1990, as i went with my ex wife to both.

Was the day of one of my best mate’s funeral and it’s 30 years tomorrow since he was tragically killed in a road crash.
Very emotional night at Elland Road was that. Always felt it was for him.
Electric atmosphere as you say. The locals were far from happy at the end!

Best - Middlesbrough away in the Cup when we lost 2-1 in January '81, Leicester Away, again in the cup, when we won 2-1 in January '90, and the infamous Ronnie Moore's hat game at Millmoor

Worst - I lost count of the number of away games I went to with zero atmosphere in the mid to late 80s and early 90s, few people there and nowt happening on the pitch, but that's no atmosphere, not a bad one. Worst would be Bromsgrove away in January 94. 88 minutes of poison directed at our players from Barnsley fans, followed by two minutes of over the top celebration like we'd won the cup.

Best - West Ham first day of Premier League, takes some beating for excitement/ anticipation.
Loads of fantastic away days, but Fulham away a couple of years ago was amazing considering it was an ordinary game. (Conor Hourihane tribute)
Liverpool away 1980s My first away game - amazing.

Worst - Took my other half to Sunderland away in early 90s > He's a Wednesday fan. He was running in in the Great North Run the day after, so it was a good stop off (or so I told him). We'd played Newcastle away on the Tuesday in the cup, and alot of fans went to that instead. There were very few Barnsley fans, we got battered, 2-0, it was freezing, and he spent the whole time telling me how crap our fans were. On that occasion, we were. It was at Roker, and inspite of all tales of the Roker Roar etc, the ground was silent.
Similar a few years earlier at Roker, when Barnsley won 3-2 from 2-0 down. I just found the atmosphere there a bit rubbish.

    Always found QPR pretty crap.

I think it was 98 away at the blunts in the pouring rain when Fjortoft scored for us against them. Tarn end went barmy. Worst was away at Maine Road with the Centenary Society surrounded by city fans baiting and threatening us all through the game, then the violence after the final whistle trying to get back to the coach. My boss at the time got a right kicking.

I know it says away matches but there was a 0-0 draw at Oakwell, Notts County I think. The East stand was built but the North stand and Academy pitches were years away. It was still the Coop Sports ground and the game was so boring everyone in the East Stand at that end started watching a game of cricket on the Coop ground. There was an almighty cheer when the bowler took a wicket. Everyone in the ground with no view of it must have wondered what the hell was going off.

Worst: 7-0 defeats at Reading and West Brom. At West Brom I'd been invited into a box owned by some of their fans. The slimy smug b@stards. It was fascinating to watch how they celebrated wildly for the first 3 goals, and ribbed me mercilessly. Then as the score mounted they seemed to take pity and stop celebrating, then they got all concerned and sympathetic. The idiots!
