RIP Norman, you were an inspiration to me as a player growing up & you managed the best Barnsley team in my lifetime. You'll be mourned by fans of Barnsley, Leeds Utd & Bristol City, all of whom see you as a legend.

    RIP Norman.
Everything you did as a player, manager, and a Man was exemplary.
You are a true legend and the world is a lesser place without you.
God Bless your family In these terrible times.

    RIP Norman Hunter.

The manager of the first Barnsley side I ever watched, its testament to him that everyone looks back on that era with such happiness and wonderful memories, a fine football team, made up of fine footballers and led by a fine manager. Memories as clear as the day they were made. It still makes the hair on the back of the neck stand up now when I think of the atmosphere in the ground back then, 6 year old nervousness prior to kick off.

In the primary school playground back in 1981, a few of the lads pretended they were Bryan Robson, Glenn Hoddle, Kenny Dalglish, but the sensible ones were Glavin, Banks, Parker, Aylott et al.

I'm having a wry smile as I type this, purely on the thought of Norman Hunter, Norman Rimmington, and Bobby Collins being reunited. Real football men, men who understood the game as a competitive sport, gave their all and would have each others back. Football, and Barnsley FC both benefitted from you being there.
