I went in a car . Walk up to the ground i was very quiet. 3 sides of the ground open due to rebuilding. 1000s outside as full to capacity everyone in London turned out to support Enfield. We had a good turnout which was consistent at this time. We were lucky if i remember we were not the greatest that night if i remember. But as ive said on so many occasions it was brilliant at this era following this side . Amazing times with fantastic following for a mid week game in London. So glad i can recall these times watching great football.
More than london derby week before. With loads locked outside. Was our chant that night.? "You only come to see the Barnsley "
I went to both the games at Oakwell and replay at White Hart Lane, which involved me travelling, as based in Plymouth in the Royal Navy at the time. I had invited a few Navy mates to watch the Oakwell game and very fortunately not embarrassed by a defeat. All I can remember of the replay is singing "Bring on the Tottenham" near the end of the match. Happy days!
9000 frum tarn was the word at the time but it didn’t feel like there was much strength in numbers whilst walking up to the ground.
Brilliant, that's the first time I've ever seen the highlights of that game. I'd forgotten how many times Enfield managed to hit the woodwork.....
Excellent video Kendray. Some reyt games on there. Nice to see Mike Lester and Glyn Riley - two very good players. In contrast, commentator Martin Tyler never liked us and never had a good word to say about us. Could never stand him and still can’t. The win at Rotherham where all they could say was how scruffy Derrick Parker’s goal was, was our first win there for 42 years.
I remember coming out of White Hart Lane that night and seeing a couple of policemen standing over a Barnsley fan who had been stabbed. They were radioing for an ambulance at the same time as keeping fans away from him.
