He only became unelectable because of the media & his own party’s Brexit solution. He wasn’t unelectable in 2017.

Allegedly Corbyn was a leaver & Starmer was a remainer. So if Starmer was leader for the last couple of years I still think they’d have lost in the working class areas that voted specifically for Brexit. He was supposedly only ‘sat on the fence’ because most of his party were remainers.

The biggest issue in all of this is how long it took to go into lockdown. The numbers that are been tested, the lack of PPE etc are all issues because we didn’t go into lockdown soon enough.

Corbyn often gets criticised by right wingers as been over dramatic & making everything a bigger issue than it is so I find it hard to believe it would’ve taken an extra 10 days than Germany for us to go into lockdown. I also don’t think he’d have allowed sporting events with big crowds to go ahead whilst the rest of Western Europe had either stopped them or had no crowds at them. No way of knowing for sure but everything he’s said & his voting record suggest he’s much more likely to take something like this serious than Boris did

Seeing the Tories bigging up and romanticising the NHS is pretty disgusting to me. They've underfunded it for a decade and there's a bunch of them that want it privatised. Now that we're in trouble they're lavishing praise (deserved praise though it is) on the NHS just for the optics.

They've handled the COVID crisis badly. I'm completely fed up of hearing "But Corbyn... bla bla bla" as if that means that they're not doing a terrible job. It's irrelevant.

Every time they get re-elected it lets them get away with it for another 4 years.

Oh dear. Let's see if you still for for them after they sell you to the Americans and then you have your pay cut. Talk about turkeys voting for Xmas...

If that were a statement I’d agree with it. As it’s a question I’d say you and the rest of those who voted for them carry more responsibility than those who didn’t.

    Not really.

But the NHS is chronically underfunded because you and many others voted Conservative.

Unpopular opinion on here but I have been in the building trade since leaving school in 2005 and only ever struggled for work when a labour were in charge. I agree with you that this government in hindsight could have acted sooner with this situation and are now wanting a exit from lockdown to ensure the economy doesnt end up totally crippled but that could back fire aswell.

Because if you hadn’t noticed the Tories are our Govt.
What’s the point in bringing in Starmer he’s not the one responsible for this **** show is he ? Or maybe he is according to you .
I’m bringing up the reasons why this govt are **** and you want me to talk about Starmer ?
It a deflection straight out of the Tories handbook “ dont talk about the situation blame labour “

I’m a labour voter to the core - but Corbyn lives to be seen to be doing something. And he’s been attending parliament despite being over 70, so the premise doesn’t hold.

in his defence - there’s no way he’d have missed the 5 meetings and when he closed the country down the press would have been in uproar about him spending money and putting the country in debt.

In reply to 1887 I totally agree. As I agree with all the posts about what the government should have done regarding the pandemic. As regards the way I voted. In Wingfield (my local constituency) Labour regained it's seat by the way. My vote didn't matter as a consequence politics doesn't work like that in this Country.

To be fair, the leader of the SNP appears to be doing better every day in Scotland - although by reports she is very unhappy at suggestions of lifting the lockdown in the papers today.

I've not seen the Senedd Cymru leader, but Wales have got stricter rules than England during the lockdown - and pro-rata have a lower mortality rate than England (as have Scotland)

The Torygraph are quoting 14% but think it is optimistic. They are pushing for an end to the lockdown - possibly to reduce the unemployment rate due to the extra deaths.

He didn't do them all before he was ill - in fact, wasn't he talking about being bored of them after about 4 or 5?

Lockdown measures to remain unchanged here in Scotland. Won’t please some but I’m all for it and hope it helps eradicate this virus.
