EFL to announce this week no more football in Leagues 1 & 2 this season and Championship in balance. Not sure how they can justify one rule for one.....
Peterborough have already stated that they and many other clubs intend to sue the EFL if they cancel the league.
If they just cancelled the Season as null and void can’t see any club successfully suing TBH and form of weighting etc to determine relegation or promotion then maybe.
Apparently they are going to do promotion from a points per game ratio meaning rotherham,Coventry and oxford promoted. If the do that for the championship were down. All hear say though changes daily.
I'm sure at the other end the teams chasing promotion will be aggrieved in league one I fancied pompey for the play offs they had really hit some good form prior to all this.
Money Money Mopney Its a rich mans world. The FA have got rules of Force Majeure to state the season NULL and VOID. This has been done this in the lower leagues and then this will be part of any rules that ALL the clubs are signed upto, no comeback, litigation etc Unless the season is completed fully or a Force majeure is used then again unless ALL clubs agree to a change in the rules on how to end the season, this then this will open various cans of worms. My opinion only
I'm just looking forward to the day I can watch some football again. I don't really care if we are relegated. We've been awful, probably would have gone down anyway.
Have they got a force majeure clause somewhere? Bearing in mind there is no official end date of the football season and that the precedent is already set that games may be postponed
If someone can point to a rule within the EFL rulebook that a partial season can be determined this (the points per game) way, then there will not be any legal action taken. This legal action if taken if this season is determined this way then it may well take some time to be finalised taking into any appeal(s) on the outcome, thus prolonging the agony/ecstasy for teams promoted/relegated this way Otherwise the only options are to continue the season until all matches are completed or to make the season null and void. Given there are issues re completing games behind closed doors (eg unfair advantage given crowd support etc) there may well be a case to complete the season Jan 2021 - May 2021 and start a season again Aug 2021
This is key at the end of the day. We can discuss which is the least unfair way forward but if there is a force majeure clause then this could hold sway. Fully agree with Redstone that we have been nowhere good enough but please do not forget FFP which should have been acted on.
In that case we will deserve to go down (SheffW, Derby, Birmingham excluded). Logic would say pick up the season later since we can't guarantee that there wouldn't be a 2nd or 3rd wave. What happens then, do we keep restarting a new season?
If only there was some sort of football management simulator that could be used to complete the season. I jest of course.
With how much this shower of corrupt idiots of a government are bumbling along, we may be promoted as champions.
Any chance the financial investigations into several Championship clubs will be completed before they work out the final points-per-game figures? Thought not.
People saying null and void yes I'd be happy with that as we are bottom of the league, our owners let us down from day one and we havent been good enough all season so it would be a real let off. But it's not really fair on the teams who have done well, imagine if this virus had happened 12months ago we would all had been fuming if the efl said null and void better luck next season.
