To be fair I’d be willing to forgo any refund from this last season but I understand if some wouldn’t.
Hard to see where potential income might come from in the next 8-12 months.
Worrying times for all clubs....

 

Don't much like the words " could seriously impact on our future". We were led to believe
our owners were cash rich. ? Surely, if that is the case, they above many other owners
should have the financial wherewithal to see us through the worst of this current crisis.

If they can't , it's God help those who have been sailing close to the wind in recent seasons.
Above all others ,they deserve all that's probably coming to them. Doubt there would be much
sympathy if someone like a Sheffield Wednesday folded. Along with Derby and others, they
have been flaunting the rules for some time.

 

I don't think that it should come from their own money but what I do think is that if they have pissed all the income up the wall then they are absolutely terrible at business.

Football clubs might currently be crying but unless I've misread this situation then their loss of income has pretty much ended now hasn't it? A club like Barnsley wouldn't be earning much money from playing games in may, June or July so the financial hit is surely now behind them.

 

Season ticket sales. Last couple of years the end of the early bird offer was end of April.

 

Completely forgot about that.

 

I suspect to make up for gate receipts they will want the chance to sell live match coverage though PPV through their own website. But this will likely be a issue because of the Sky television deal.

Unfortunately he gave no reassurance that the owners would fund the club through this period. They will be hoping that the season is null and void, otherwise a financial crisis could happen, potentially administration. Although they could let it go into administration and form another consortium and buy it, that may prove to be cheaper than maintaining the club in it's current financial condition. Pure speculation.

 

My feeling is Administration is inevitable, if relegation happens through points per game. The owners have not shown any inclination to invest funds in the club, using EFL Share and transfer surplus to break even.

 

But where the hell does all the money go? If we spunked all our promotion money and the millions from selling the spine of the squad on the shower we've ended up with then to be honest admin is the best thing for us and hopefully they would then fail the git and proper persons test for starting again

 

I reckon they could try to sell us season tickets for the 21/22 season, extra early bird. Also a streaming ST for all matches behind closed doors next season, although we’d probably need to be in the Championship for that.
Some creative thinking required as I’m pretty sure they won’t be stumping up any of their own money. Even a fire sale of our best players won’t raise much in this situation.

 

They might fail the proper person test, but they'll pass the git test.

 

Can't see a transfer period at the end of the season as no club below the premier league will have enough money to buy anyone and regarding our players, no one is premier class.

 

From the outset, "we" were given the impression that our owners were extremely rich and
I can recall seeing a statement somewhere , that said that we were now something like the eleventh
richest Club in the English league system.

We have complete empathy that the Covid 19 epedemic must have placed a great strain on our cash
resources, but having said that, we are not in isolation in making such a claim.

If this board are not prepared to put their own cash in to support us through these trying times and
allow us to enter administration, I fear such action could test the resolve of many of our loyal fans
who could well withdraw both their financial and physical support and you know what, such action would
be totally understood and justified.

I honestly feel their could be a groundswell of opinion from the fanbase, with the majority saying that they
wouldn't go anywhere Oakwell until such times as the present board had sold up and moved on.

 

By Newcastle or the Company that employs her , can’t really see Mike Ashley being concerned about any staff let alone those he doesn’t employ . The furloughing or not of staff not employed by BFC is hardly Danes concern

 

By the company that employ her but surely match day stewards represent the club even if they are subcontracted and therefore some concern could be shown?

 

Like selling tax discs when they weren't needed any longer and being late getting replica gear out for the warmer months I shouldnt be surprised. But I would have thought we would have been selling the goldmine of a range of Barnsley FC face masks by now.

 

Concern yes, but the decisions about furloughing, redundancies, etc, rest entirely with the employer - the company who pays the wages. It's not our CEOs job to run other people's companies. Doyle's will, quite rightly, make its own decisions based on what's best for it's own survival. Hopefully with the best interests of its employees in mind. Doyles may choose to consult with the companies that they service, of which we are one of many, but I suspect that's as far as it goes. Ultimately it's their call.

 

I agree it's not in Barnsley''s power to give them furlough directly, That wasnt what I meant, I meant that they should know.seeing as they subcontractrl no presumably want their services when football resumes.
