https://1daysooner.org/ Over 16k people in over 100 countries have signed up to take part. I don't know what to make of those who have signed up. It's very admirable of them to put themselves forward to try and speed up finding a vaccine that works. However it's crazy to risk your life because if it's allowed to happen someone will likely die.
It’s a moral dilemma in the development of most vaccines. You obviously need to people to catch the virus in order to test immunity. In the majority of cases, the virus isn’t prevalent amongst the general population, so they have to purposely infect the trial candidates. However, the difference here is that there are no anti viral drugs that have been proven to be effective, so as I understand it currently there is no deliberate infection of trialists. Who knows if that will change though.
Over 300 drug trials are ongoing at the moment, with some success. Reports from Spain this morning suggest that it would require up to 12 waves to reach herd immunity within the population of that country based on the levels of people found to have antibodies. Still no guarantee that immunity would last.
Why bother, this Government are doing their best to eventually infect everyone anyway , wealth before health
There's so many criticisms that can be levelled at this utter shower we've got, but how anyone can look at the biggest act of economic and financial self harm in World history and conclude that "they've put money first", wow, that's some misreading of the situation.
They delayed the decision to quarantine incoming visitors to the UK by about 4 months too late. They delayed the decision to lockdown by 2-3 weeks too late. What was it if not an attempt to protect the economy (ironically ensuring that the economy has more damage than if they had made the decision earlier) instead of lives? You could always look at the Johnson speech of early February where he talks about Britain being able to take advantage of the unprecedented situation...
Totally agree. I think they've panicked. Pure and simple. The irony for me is they said Labour's policy was "dither and delay". That's exactly what the Conservative government has done. I've just had an e-mail from management that they're going to put me a perspex sheet up on the reception desk to protect me...How many weeks are we into this mess? At least it might come in handy for the second wave.
Here’s Boris in February ‘ And in that context, we are starting to hear some bizarre autarkic rhetoric, when barriers are going up, and when there is a risk that new diseases such as coronavirus will trigger a panic and a desire for market segregation that go beyond what is medically rational to the point of doing real and unnecessary economic damage, then at that moment humanity needs some government somewhere that is willing at least to make the case powerfully for freedom of exchange, some country ready to take off its Clark Kent spectacles and leap into the phone booth and emerge with its cloak flowing as the supercharged champion, of the right of the populations of the earth to buy and sell freely among each other. And here in Greenwich in the first week of February 2020, I can tell you in all humility that the UK is ready for that role.’ We locked down late and have started unlocking early . The price for furloughing is a fraction of the price we’ve paid for bailing out the banks
We haven’t started unlocking at all. The actual cost of furlough is a tiny drop in the ocean of the total cost of this. The economic impact will dwarf that of the financial crisis ten fold.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...vaccine-trial-available-June-expert-says.html Sir John Bell said earlier today he wouldn't purposely infected people with Covid even though they did to monkeys in animal trials and the daily infections going down possibly making it harder to know if the vaccine works.
Let people particularly old people die then . We know it’s going to cost , these f@ckers are prepared for it to cost in lives of the working class and the poor
