My knee-jerk reaction is that it's madness. But after reading the "return to training" protocols, that part of it sounds fairly sensible and well thought out - no more or less safe than wandering round a garden centre or supermarket.

The problems arise when you move on to the live games phase. If players can't do any training that involves tackling or close opposition, then how can any games be played? My best guess is that the situation is fluid and no games will actually take place until it's a lot safer than it is right now, and even then it's a decision for the government.

If we get an increase in R in a few weeks, this could all be moot.

I think if they try to start it up someone will die. Not one of the players, but a manager or a kit man or that extremely large physio we saw a year or two back. And then they really will be in a mess. I'm for people, keeping their jobs, and people being allowed to work, but when I'm making those arguments it's for working class people who live week to week, who need to survive, who can at least try to follow the latest protocols of social distancing, hand washing, mask wearing etc. But a contact sport played between millionaires from all over the globe coming together to sweat all over each other. It makes zero sense.

Oh I agree, and if it was up to me, football clubs would be one of the last things to be opening up, or well down the list at any rate.
I'd be gobsmacked if the government allowed any live games this summer, even behind closed doors. Then again, maybe I wouldn't be.

I don't care who it is, it's idiotic and may cost lives and clubs.

thats my thoughts, they will be all over keeping the players, management etc safe, not so much as you work your way down the tiers.

I suspect that the players moral will fall once they realise there will be no body massages, particularly the ones done by Vicky!
