As expected. I wonder if we’ll follow suit with Dougall.

Good news. If we're relegated it keeps one of our better players here until January at least.

I'd like to see him moved into a more advance position and instructed to shoot more. For someone of his talents he doesn't score the goals his play deserves. That said I don't think there are enough players on his wave length. He tries one-twos with team mates, makes a run into the box and doesn't receive a return ball.

It’s a BAD BAD deal for the club if he has only 6 months of his contract left in the middle of the season i.e. January.
Surely the club has learnt some bitter lessons after the January 2017 debacle and the disruption that brought.

Not necessarily it just means we can get some money for him if we sell him. If we hadnt activated the extension he would be free to move to anyone that would have him - I would have been quite surprised if we hadn't activated it. Better news would have been him agreeing a new deal

You wouldnt have thought it learned any lessons judging by the debacle of the last summer window.

It's not good news, it's no news at all.

It was always going to happen.

Totally agree but it probably reflects the fact that the longer term contract on offer from the club doesn’t meet the expectations of an established championship player.

The one year extension means at the best he’ll be here until January.

For all the changes in the ownership and the use of longer term contracts the club will always have problems keeping hold of the stand out performers.

We'll probably still sell him as soon as things settle down.

To give him a new contract wold cost us 15+ grand a week.

Mowatt for 6 months in League 1 would be just enough time for the club to be fighting for promotion back to the Championship. It worked with Brad Potts. I'd fancy the clubs chances of securing a replacement more on a roll in League 1 than a relegation scrap in the Championship.

This actually feels like bad news to me - it suggests that we've failed to agree a new contract. Not that that's too much of a surprise.

It didnt work for sunderland when they had maja and sold him in january. We were lucky with potts that jacob brown took over where he left off we also had the best defence in the league and two of the best strikers in the division.

Great news,I really like watching Mowatt play. Wherever/whenever we play he’ll always be our ‘key worker’ however long that may be for.

We have offered him a new deal apparently he was waiting to see what happens this season.

Common sense to extend his deal so when we sell him before the start of next season we can get some money for him to keep the club afloat with no match day income for the foreseeable.

As I read it it’s an option of a one year deal which must have been in his original contract why the club have not offered him a longer deal on increased terms is beyond me

    They have.

He’s waiting to see what league we’re in next season before he makes the decision.
