From a legal viewpoint the only way to avoid court would be null and void

I get your point but we were seven adrift with nine to play. Three of top six to play and playing like a bag of *****. I'd accepted relegation ages ago.

But legally it must be easier to show you've lost out by being demoted than potential loss if you possibly could have gained promotion?

We have owners with deep pockets. If they sue about FFP they would definitely sue over this. The sensible option is to abandon now. Promote the top 2 to the premier. Relegate no one and have play offs for the final place do that for all divisions. Limits matches to a handful. Of course they will do summat different and daft.

We're 7 points adrift but Leeds are 7 points clear! And loss of opportunity is fertile legal territory.

We also had Stoke, Luton and Wigan to play, three crucial six-pointers.

Actually on the recent form guide we're 10th with 9 points from the last 6 matches....Luton are 6th with 11 points ...at the other end of the scale, Hull have 1 point from the last 6 and Middlesborough only 5....Charlton 6 from 6.
I'm not suggesting we would necessarily stay up, but I think Luton have got a fair case.
It's purely hypothetical, but if it was to play out on current form
    Luton would have 51 pts
    Barnsley 47
    Charlton 48
    Hull 43
    Middlesborough 48
    Wigan 59
    Huddersfield 52
    Stoke 53

contrary to popular opinion here the F.A are not making it up as they go along
before they even make statement it will have been looked over and signed off by there legal team plus outside contracted ones as well probably for second third opinion.

they will not be putting there hands up in a room when the vote takes place.
it will be a legally binding document that they will all have to sign , saying they agree to all aspects of the vote outcome and that vote is legally bounding.
there will be no legal action by any of the teams involved
    however much blustering they spout
refusing to the sign the document could have huge implications including your status in the leagues i would presume

That's the time to start the legal action imo, not after the vote.

    There will be legal proceedings

I'm not so sure....the only times that this has happened before were WW1 and 2, when the Leagues were just voided....so there is a precedent to be argued.
If there are rules in place to cover the event, then there is nothing to argue about....so my suspicion is that the FA are making it up as they go along.

there will be legal proceedings. You are very naive to think otherwise. Your legally binding document what if i say sorry I don’t agree and have been advised by my legal team not to sign.

As mentioned by someone on another thread, my suspicion is that BFC. is more bothered by the loss of currency than the loss of championship status. Desperately sad if true.

Nothing to do with the FA. The FA manage the rules of the game etc, EFL are responsible for all Commercial aspects, including the league and its rules.

By that maths we'd be relegated anyway?

Not only is that fairest and simplest, it's also the safest.

    Definitely won't happen.

Promote who you want, but relegating anyone in these circumstances will be unfairly damaging. Clubs already have massive financial implications because of all this.

Is there any reason why they couldn't scrap the season and then start next season with each team on their current points total?
